Cooler this morning, cloudy as well, still no rain due but I'll take cooler for now

Need to finalise the Asda delivery, i was out yesterday & didn't fancy doing it once home

Despite being cooler I'm still mainly salads today. had a rifle through the salad drawer and found four old spuds, guessing they are "bakers" but have sprouted. I'll wedge or chip them in the AF later

Good morning everyone,

Heavy showers and low teens here today. The repair DS2 did to the front bay pointing/roof has been well tested overnight! Fingers crossed it's solved the water ingress problem. 🤞

I had a lovely, lazy lie in this morning so really should crack on now and get the daily chores done but another cuppa and the crossword is more tempting lol! This afternoon I have some clothes mending to do and want to alter the drawstring ties on a jacket I bought in a sale. I'm not a great sewer but manage the basics and quite enjoy doing it. Fridge bits for lunch. I'll roast a chook later as it's too wet to rotisserie it and we'll have some of that with the tomato and rice soup I made yesterday for dinner.

Bit of a lazy start here too, but I finally got myself organised and prepped everything I need for a broccoli and stilton quiche for tonight; I’ll do some boiled potatoes and carrots to go with it.

Lunch was the last of the pate, crusty bread, toms and cucumbers.

Up and organised to go to an event that got cancelled last minute this morning so that kind of threw the day 🙃

Made the most of my free hour's electricity by doing some ironing, a load of washing and some hoovering. Other bits of pottering then went for a swim later afternoon.

Tuna and sweetcorn sandwich with cherry tomatoes for lunch. Salmon, sweetcorn and new potato salad tonight.

hi guys I got back about 3pm yesterday, G Maps fastest route (selected by sister!) made good time but took us through unexpected counties and across the Dartford Bridge it took the same time as the more traditional route on the way up. The heat down here was definitely a shock after a more enjoyable heat in Northumberland, we had two days where it stopped raining as we left the house and just the one day we wore waterproofs, but that day we saw four dolphins so it didn't matter 🙂 so weather a lot better than forecast, if we continue with hot summers I may move north!

I did go to Sainsburys late afternoon rather than just get milk at T Express and go today, so got some YS bargains as well as stocked up on F&V and fresh stuff. All my washing washed and dried and a more enjoyable slightly cooler day here. It's sad that the closer here we got the browner everything got brown lawns look horrid although my brambles are taking over the garden.

Tuna mixed with capers, chilli, spring onions, parsley and gherkins and a light dressing for lunch with crackers.

YS small chicken roasted for dinner with new potatoes and salad.

Welcome back Brambling, being home I expect last night was hot for sleeping after your away days. No respite due until maybe Thursday get a sprinkle of rain

Cat MOT day, it's been collected already. I get it collected because there is not any means of getting home if i take it there, bus route ceased decades ago and no way could I wobble home.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday and the weather was kind Brambling.

Grey, showery and low/mid teens here today. I've a stack of admin to tackle before I return to the mending/alterations as it taken longer than I expected to get done.

Last night's tomato and rice soup was very tasty but had gone very thick so I had to add more stock to loosen it a bit. Consequently it's made 6/7 portions rather 4. Two were eaten, a tub has been frozen and there's a tub in the fridge for lunches. Lunch today will be soup with some of the chook I roasted yesterday. This omelette tonight Saag paneer omelette － Tesco Recipes - Tesco Groceries with potatoes and either steamed veg or salad.

Proper rain here last night and then showers/drizzle on and off most of today, decidedly cooler. Out early this morning to get to one of our offices, couple of good meetings and made a start on clearing a week's worth of emails.

Took a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich with some cherry tomatoes for lunch. Cooked both pieces of salmon last night (they were frozen and therefore defrosted together) so just made salmon, red pepper and pea egg fried rice for tea.

Farway I'm also getting my car picked up for it's service and MOT next Monday, otherwise I require lifts as it's about 5 or 6 miles .

Boiler man was here all day fitting new boiler and comes back tomorrow to test and finish paperwork, it will probably be the last time I see him before he retires next March and hands over to his son, after 21 years of his bad singing I'll be sad to see him go. I'm hoping it will be cooler for him tomorrow.

Cheese and gammon sandwich with piccalilli for lunch, I brought a small joint in the tinfoil tray on offer from Sainsbury's and was shocked at how small it now is, it says feeds 3 but only if they all have small appetites!

It feels so lovely to be cool again. I'm just sitting here with all the windows open enjoying the breeze through the house.

I have a massage this morning so I only had half a sandwich with an iced Matcha.

I have a shopping delivery today so I'm going to see what needs using up for lunch from the fridge and freezer to make space.
