It's only fair that I made you add plaice to the shopping Nelski as you're the reason I'm having roast chicken today 😁
It's a beautiful sunny day here today, so I've a line full of washing drying 🙂 I've been pottering in the garden this morning and will pop back out in a while, my sister wandered round on her walk and we chatted from a safe distance in the garden, I'm sure the neighbours wanted to share family news from my catch up yesterday with our eldest sister 🙄. I lost a box of hay fever tablets to her and some radish seeds, I'll share some more seeds once I've sorted what I need first or I wouldn't see them back
I've gone through the LOs of last week's veg and as I don't fancy soup with the odds and sods I've diced it up small and sautéed it, later whilst the oven is on I'm going to make some muffin size crustless quiche with some of it and will add rice or couscous and stuff a green pepper with the rest. I found half a Savoy cabbage and a little bit of black kale so that's cooked as well and will do for bubble and squeak one night in the near future.
The chicken is only a small one but I may spatchcock it with loads of herbs under the skin and I've half a lemon which may get thrown in the tin with it. I'm not fancying the root veg mash I was going to do with it so it may be with broccoli and French beans and perhaps the asparagus roasted and some new potatoes. I'll play it by ear when I'm in the kitchen later

Gardening completed, potting on done, more peas than I anticipated, they all germinated, just hope I can keep the maggots out of them once they get going.Very warm in the sunshine, salad was a good bet down here at least, as I made my sorta coleslaw I remembered a tin of spuds I bought a bit back, after someone on CFO mentioned how handy they can be. Thus sorta coleslaw is now sorta spud salad
Thanks whoever it was
I'm still having some AF chips with it all thoughEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4 -
I had a couple of things in mind I'd not mind topping up .... e.g. treating myself to Pepsi Max isn't essential, it's just a nice treat to have a can a day. Also needed a top up of baccy .... and I had some rubbish to dispose of. Rubbish/disposal is one of my ASD issues/problems. I don't use the bins here, not even popping a bag into the bin outside. I keep my rubbish in my room, then slide it into my car ... and then I've used public bins to dispose of it
So I had some recycling in the boot of the car and some actual "rubbish"... although, for all categories of waste, I actually generate very very little. I think the biggest item was a stack of 8 noodle pots, which were rinsed/clean in any case.
I went to the OOD food place, grabbed another 12 pack of my favourite flavour, just so I know I've something nice to eat. I also grabbed a 1Kg bag of some sweets, allegedly "sour pencils" but they're not overly sour. I also got from there a bag of individual small rocky bars (20-30 or so in the bag).
Then it was off to a Mr T to look for 30-packs of PM fizzy pop - no joy... emerged with a 27p pot of the Mr T cheapo salmon paste, a punnet of small plum tomatoes and two 4-packs of cheapo cup a soups (25p/4).
Then it was off to a spot where I know I can park alongside public bins and disposed of my recycling and rubbish.
Next it was to another Mr T. This one had a queue outside... about 12 in front of me. 1-in-1-out, so it moved quickly. As I was in there I grabbed two trays of 24 fizzy pops... that was all.
Then back here.
LL disappeared mid afternoon yesterday, might not be back until tomorrow... but could turn up in 10 minutes. Last weekend it was a Saturday-Monday absence. Remember this, when you're out and about, feeling "safe", these rule breakers walk among us.
Today's scoffathon has so far been: 2 veg samosas (bought yesterday), a noodle pot, 4 squares of chocolate, a pack of crisps, a flatbread.3 -

EDIT: Ah, found them... but not on their website. Launched in 2012, they probably died a death and I didn't even know about them. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome back.PN, yes they did not survive unfortunately. Shame perhaps. The only ones I would of tried would of been SmokyBacon and possibly just possibly the Fish/Chips one. Slightly reminded of the Walkers BBQ flavour crisps actually for some reason, the limited edition ones they were quite nice, at least until I could not find any more in date!edit I guess what I am saying with part of that is sometimes a few foodie things from various makers should of maybe just mabe ( ? ) spent longer "out on the shelves" than they did to see if sales did pick up.Regarding meat pots, local BM has the Princ... ones in usually about 50 odd pence. They tend to only have a couple of varieties though but the Shippies ones they do have too at a bit less. I can't recall trying the Shippies one, I may grab a beef one to find out next time.

I did re-check in the last year or so and they'd reduced the amount and it's mostly Haddock now. I just checked and it's 57% Haddock and 15% crab. Still tasty though4 -

Overnight sprinkle of rain but back to sunshine nowMy 'fridge has a lot of empty space now I'm not mooching around shops, not that I'm short of anything, just I obviously had loads of "bargains" in there.Same with number two freezer, if I sorted it I suspect there would be a couple of empty drawers. I'm not doing so as I intend getting a huge online frozen shop once things settle down from panic stationsPorridge breakfast, now down to using L's previously bought yoghurt as I've run out of UHT milk to make my own, and there's no UHT showing in T's even if I asked the Neighbour's Daughter [hereafter ND] to get some.Lunch another salad sarnieDinner, I've taken a couple of FR lamb leg steaks out to defrost, so tonight is one of those, grilled I think, with steamed carrots, cabbage & broccoli, with Aunt B's roasties & a couple of her frozen Yorkies. I've LO lamb shank gravy from the other day, so all goodI have to think a bit about my next few shops because ND is not working on Easter Sunday so I need to be judicious and get what's needed but not too heavy / bulky for her to carry, milk & bread top of list & taking up space

Yes i love cooking yes I love baking but i have a good stock so I need to crack through that. So today is chilli and tortillas for dinner. Lunch some heinz tomato soup

Good morning everyone,
I do like the jars of crab paste, I suppose as long as there is some crab in it they'll be able to keep calling it that.
Like you Nelski I'm trying to plan round my freezer stash and just buy fresh bits. Can't say it's completely successful at the moment - I'll blame my son but mainly it's working well.
It became very stormy yesterday with torrential rain overnight, it's dry and sunny now but much colder and still pretty windy. I'm waiting for my pressure cooker to finish (making broccoli soup) and then I'm going to wrap up and venture out to fill some trays for my bean & pea seeds.
My son is holed up in the dining room wfh, he ended up being pretty late up playing a quiz with his mates including one who now lives in America. The chap in America is an aircraft engineer and is on shift as they have to keep a crew in place in case an urgent repair is needed as his firm services cargo planes. There are only four of them in this massive hangar with literally nothing to do for 12 hours so he's pretty bored! I had a couple of bags of logs delivered earlier so my son will get a decent work out later moving them from the back lane to the log store!
Easy dinner tonight of jazzed up SM pizza .
