Today I've packed away: The last chocolate, a pack of doritos, a jam sandwich, a flatbread, a pack of crisps.5

Last night's lamb shank was excellent, and really meaty, and Aunt B's roasties also turned out well. There are no LOs either. A CFO success, unlike my recent banana cakeA sunny morning with promise of more to come this weekend, I'll be at home though not wandering o'er hill & dalePorridge breakfast of courseLunch, last of my freshish loaf as a cheese & HM chutney sarnie. Fingers crossed my "shopper" can find a loaf, if not I've a mix I can use in the PannyDinner, it's use up, some stale bread as toast base for LO 1/2 tin of beans and either scrambled or fried eggs, I fancy scrambled but frying is my CBA optionBrambling said:There was something about the taste which reminded me of rock cakes (maybe just the way i baked them
) which my great aunt always made for visitors there would have been no oats or golden syrup in them but if i had added mixed spice it would have been almost there. We wouldn't mention the date on the tin of golden syrup or the fact I had to put it into boiling water to de-crystallise
i may have to dig out a rock cake recipe soon
Today's gardening could be pot on a fig tree and maybe even tidy up the area I hope to put the strawberries in. It's getting near the time that the garden just runs away with jobs that have been in the round to it drawerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5 -
All these recent mentions of Mr J. O. ... I popped off to see what that was all about. I found a Channel 4 offering ... looked like it might be the one - and started to watch.
He is soooo annoying. I want him to STOP using the words "humble" and "come on" - and STOP moving his arms and hands about.
I did notice, on the bread one, when he spread pesto with his hands.... they edited that as he'd have had sticky pesto fingers, yet went straight to the fridge and opened it and was then cutting bits of cheese on top of the pesto without a hint of having sticky green pesto fingers.
If you add up his cooking times.... and you add in the "non professional's time to do the chopping", many of his apparently easy recipes take 1-2 hoursAnd I bet he didn't have to walk forlornly round local shops looking for his ingredients.... they'll have turned up "by magic".
They also never show him squirting washing up liquid onto a little green/yellow sponge and doing his washing up... or wiping the top down, or chucking the bits in the bin, or sweeping the floor, then wiping it down afterwards... he's got fairies for all that.7 -
pn you are funny
I know telly is a bit odd at the moment but heaven help us if we have to watch chefs wash up and sweep the floor. Ive made a few of his recipes now and all have been gorgeous....horses for courses I guess.
Last night I had the LO liver with some chipsLots more liver in the freezer so my vitamin levels will be good and high for a change
So today I just had a crusty bread bacon butty which made me smile lots then later today the plan is to use up some chicken and peppers in fajitas so all good....in between I will clean the kitchen
Have a good day all6 -
I just went for a walk for the first time in 10 days! I was trying to stay inside as my husband works for London Underground and so I was trying to stay indoors to reduce the risk of me getting ill and infecting him but I cracked.
It was lovely out there, it's gorgeous, sunny weather.
I had curried baked beans with added spinach on toast for breakfast. It was really nice, I only had half a tin of beans so I will have the other half and have the same again tomorrow.
I bought some fresh fruit and veg so I had some squeezed pink grapefruit juice in a glass of water. I love pink grapefruit juice. I used to hate it, weirdly!
Oh yes. That is what I will do, fill up the ice cube trays as it is meant to be even warmer tomorrow.

Good afternoon,
I think with JO love him or loathe him you can rely on his recipes working and tasting good. We've caught up with most of the current series and enjoyed it.
I'm still a tad wonky so apart from doing a few basic chores I'm having an easy day. My son is in charge of tonight's cook along here and I'll happily leave him to it. He's headed for a socially distanced walk with my nephew before the cooking starts. We're having pakora (from the freezer), korma style pollock and prawn curry, rice and naan. A glass of wine may well feature with dinner! The quizmaster was apparently up to silly o'clock pulling the questions together so it should be a laugh. My elder son has promised not to bribe her for the answers lol. Lunch was a naughty but tasty bacon and tattie scone roll with a good splodge of HP, the weather is still cold and damp here so a hot lunch was welcome. I've chicken portions and haggis defrosting for dinner tomorrow.6 -
One of the things I've noticed about being indoors so much and not having as much food as usual is that I'm using up my collection of condiments!
My lunch was delicious. I felt like I haven't had fresh onions and peppers for ages and they taste gorgeous roasted in oil and garlic. Yum.

I left the house today, it wasn't planned as such, it just happened when I suddenly thought I could wander out for an Aldi 4-pack of samosas... I went about 6.15 and was back by 6.30. It's only half a mile.
Walking there I smelt chips .... I've been to that chippy, so I crossed the road to see what their door said. They do online/delivery. Walk in chips used to be £2. Delivery ones appear to be closer to £3 and no clues if there's a delivery charge or a minimum order....
A bit further along ... I smelt indian. That appeared to be an Italian restaurant, so that was odd. They do delivery. So many food deliveries from what used to be pubs and restaurants, but they're by no means a cheap option, so I'll continue to go without.
In Aldi I just picked up a 27p pot of their beef paste... I looked for a punnet of tomatoes (cheap), but they only had the pricey ones for sale as the rest of the slots were empty. So that was it. Paste & a pack of samosas.
Today's scoffathon has so far been: jam sandwich, half a bar of Aldi/30p chocolate, a packet of W's crisps, noodle pot, 2 samosas. Total cost of that lot's about £1.06. I think I do well for volume/cost
Jam/28p a jar, bread I splashed out as it was a 55p loaf, chocolate is 30p/100g, crisps from out of date place were 15p, noodle pot from out of date place 16p, samosas are 99p/4-pack.5
