Cooking for one (Mark Three)

I had a pack of crisps for breakfast and a jam sandwich for lunch. As I'd bought jam in a couple of weeks ago for that... and bought a loaf yesterday that's got a BBE date of 5 April, it makes sense to crack on and have something that used bread. I had one choccie for afters.
Might have an apple later. For my main evening meal it'll be a noodle pot.3 -
CARONC that tea sounds delish, right up my street 😘
I've made a cheesy potato n carrot mash, which I'm having with broccoli n garden peas later. Have also air fried the peelings, with olive oil, garlic n chilli flakes, n they're so good:)"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I went to T Exp lunchtime, there was a small queue when I got there but not too bad the main things I needed were milk and bananas but I did pick up some broccoli, French beans, raspberries and a pineapple and less healthy the last bag of flour and a tiger loaf. I had swapped my last bag of flour with my sister for eggs but i'm fancying a bit of baking, if I talk myself out of that I'm sure my nephew will rehome the flour
Lunch was LO mackerel pate with some tiger bread. I made a very nice spaghetti bolognese for dinner with lots of diced veg sauté with the mince including some of the broccoli stalk. I'll some for lunch tomorrow and will freeze the last of itLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin4 -
Morning all,
Yesterday was a CF1 sometimes day. We had different breakfasts - petit pain with nutella and a crumpet with peanut butter and the same lunch - tomato soup and toast. Dinner was beige but used some of the stuff in packets and boxes from the freezer. The HT had oven chips and chicken nuggets with bread and butter and BBQ sauce, I had oven chips, fish nuggets and tartare sauce. Not a vegetable in sight but it was just one of those days. The HT was in a lot of pain from his hypermobile joints and after a day of dosing him up with painkillers and worrying, I wasn't really in the mood for providing anything complicated.
Sometimes I think it would be nice if someone else in this house could cook. The HT has zero interest in food and will just make toast or noodles if I don't come up with the goods. I will include healthy stuff in this evenings meal....
Take care all of you4 -
It's a salmon paste sandwich for breakfast today. One 27p pot (Aldi or Lidl, can't remember which) should do for two sandwiches, so now I've opened the pot and it's not refrigerated I'll have another sandwich later.

Diving in as a long time reader and occasional poster. Having to be a real user upperer as most people are atm with the odd random addition from a delivery. All good though I have an embarrassingly full freezer stock so for the first time I am cracking through the goal of the eating through the freezer
I love cooking and it kinda keeping me sane but still opting for easy go to stuff a lot of the time. Quick summary of this week dinners I like a roast if possible on a Sunday so week started with chicken and veggie stuff from the fridge with the obligatory roast spuds and yorkies, Monday was a hot chicken butty on crusty bread with roasts and gravy, Tues I made stock with chicken and had a risotto courtesy of the new Jamie programme which I'm loving, Weds was more risotto (always left overs of course) Last night was liver bacon and onion gravy with mash which may well appear again tonight but with some chips. Fancy some cheese on toast for lunch but see how I feel. Hope everyone is well especially pn who seems to be living in some kind of hell right now

Welcome Nelski, tasty sounding meals there, esp liver & bacon, and now I fancy some.Very mild but dull out today, not that I've anything planned except change the bedding. The high life here.On another exciting note my garden waste wheelie bin has at last been emptied, a fortnight & one official complaint later, now it's down to CV not CBAThe frozen lamb lump turned out to be a FR shank, quite a large one. Defrosted fine & now in the slow cooker for dinner. I'll have it with steamed cabbage & broccoli, plus Aunt B's roast spuds to make freezer space in case this lock down goes on & on I'd rather have meat, fish & other items in there than frozen roastiesPorridge breakfastLunch, I think a use up fried egg sarnieDinner, as aboveNumerus non sum5

Good afternoon everyone,
👋👋Nelski my freezers are still laden too!
Cold, grey and wet here today, I think the stove will be getting lit fairly early.
Groceries arrived pretty much as ordered just a couple of subs and one minor unavailable item. My son is heading for a virtual drink with his work mates after work this afternoon. I've said I'll cook tonight so he doesn't have to rush 'back'. I'm making HM burgers with coleslaw and wedges so a bit of prep but I can do it sitting down which is handy as the donkey is still grumbling. He'll cook tomorrow when him, his brother and my nephew are all making curries for us to have while we do a quiz my DIL-to-be is devising. Should be a good laugh😊7 -
Another one glad of well laden freezer and stored cupboards, sometimes the benefit of CFO, where there are always LOs and fish and meat are sold in multiple packs.
I'm enjoying watching Jamie as well Nelski although my waist line may regret making his' oaty biscuit type' bars which I made lunchtime, a 'Friday' moment meant 5 minutes after putting it in the oven i turned around to see the dried fruit and nuts sitting on the worktopI did quickly take it out of the oven, dumped them in and stirred, it tastes nice just a bit too crumbly to take some next door as a thank you for mowing the lawn. There was something about the taste which reminded me of rock cakes (maybe just the way i baked them
) which my great aunt always made for visitors there would have been no oats or golden syrup in them but if i had added mixed spice it would have been almost there. We wouldn't mention the date on the tin of golden syrup or the fact I had to put it into boiling water to de-crystallise
i may have to dig out a rock cake recipe soon
Your virtual curry and pub quiz sounds like it will be fun Caronc
Work actually finished on time todayI think after a day of technical issues both on our live site and our test site we were all more than happy to call it a day at 5pm and after a brain freeze by me this afternoon my Texan colleague did ask was i using WFH as a opportunity to hit the gin during working hours
I'm blaming his lordship who woke me up trying to get out the locked and blocked cat flap 4am - I did put him out ........
lunch was LO spag bol and whilst the pasta cooked i made the above bars. Dinner will be the butterfied vension shoulder i brought last week in the farmers market, i have had it marinading since last night and just need to work out what to have with it when i finished my cuppaLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin5
