Farway said:greenbee said:@Farway - the volunteers who do my shopping give me their bank details and I do an electronic transfer based on the receipt. It seems to work well. However the review on lock-down continuance is next week, so rules may change but I doubt it. In meantime I think I'll ask ND what she would prefer, cash may still be fine
You can pay through Paypal Friends and family just with their email address, and it goes into their account quickly.
I have always found it easy and secure, less of a faff than the online banking.3 -
For paying people the costs of your errands a new card's been launched for volunteers.

Evening all - CH has been off since Saturday morning in the barmy SE although sitting in my dining room working it's a bit nippy at times. I'm sure it will go back on again before summer but it's nice that it turned off early as it has been on during the day whilst I've been WFH.
My stores are still quite healthy although my sister is after my tinned tomatoes however I seem to have less fish in the freezer than I though but there is salmon and a little mackerel just not any smoked fish which I fancy. T Exp when i looked only had dyed smoked haddock and I prefer mine not a bright shade of yellowi miss popping into the W8itrose lunchtime to see what they have reduced on their fish counter, but I can live with it as there are far more bigger issues to worry about.
A mix of asthma, hayfever and sinuses have meant I've coughed and sneezed most of the afternoon following sitting in the garden lunchtime, and I have had to use my inhalers quite a bit, there is one advantage that i have been able to put my all day skype call on mute. As I don't have a temperature i'm going to assume it is my usual issues
After Farway's picture i was inspecting my tulips lunchtime and typically where i had planted two difference colours together for contrast only one colour is currently opened the other is firmly in bud
Lunch was couscous with vegetable and cold chicken, i now remember why the couscous have been lurking in the back of the cupboard, even cooked with stock and herbs its still a bit blah, i have some left which i'll cover with sweet chilli sauce again for tomorrow as it's boring but not horrid.
Not sure what to do with the LO chicken for dinner i have plenty of veg so it may just be cold chicken, new potatoes and green veg

I had that "shopping for one" dilemma ... it's omnipresent even in normal times. If you're shopping for one and you want two similar items, you can only choose one. You could buy both, then choose which to freeze, but most things aren't the same once defrosted and, right now, freezing's not an option.
Today one choice was "flatbreads, or a loaf?". Both have their place. In the end I got two packs of flatbreads rather than a loaf. I'll look at getting a loaf next week.
Then, I was off to get samosas. These are chilled, so I would buy a pack of four, eat two straight away, then tuck the other two away and eat later/tomorrow for breakfast. The trouble is, having acquired a pack of these, I suddenly spotted a YS quiche! It was a YS 30% off £1.19 cheese/onion quiche, making it 83p. That's a serves 2-3 9" one. I'd typically buy one of those, slice it into three, eat one bit now, another bit later and the final bit in the morning.
So, I've now got food overload... samosas and quiche that both should ideally be eaten today/first thing tomorrow.
Today so far I've scoffed: 1 apple, some sweeties, a packet of crisps, 5 baby plum tomatoes.3 -
Today I've had... Milky coffee with my mid-morning dose of evil antibiotics; Tofu and salad (home made coleslaw, the last of the cucumber, tomatoes, some artichokes in olive oil, home-sprouted seeds) followed by a clementine and yogurt; ginger biscuit mid afternoon; fishcake, courgettes fried in butter and garlic, steamed spring greens and curly kale. I've remembered to use my fresh herbs, and add spices.
I've also made some carrot, ginger and lentil soup and turned an aubergine into baba ganoush. Even better, I've had an offer to do some shopping tomorrow, so having checked what might turn up in Thursday's veg box, I've asked for stuff I know I won't get or I know will last. And some hot cross buns...3 -
I'm a bit worried... I seem to have developed a cough and new symptoms are cropping up.
I don't think it's the Coronas at all... it's just a regular cough, but it's annoying and "I'm never ill", so very annoying as I'm not "in my own little home". I'm "worried" as I don't want to be ill, especially here/now.
I've got: bit of a cough (wet), bit of a tiny sniffle, glands very slightly up. As I said, nothing to worry about, just a "normal sort of thing".
But what intrigues me, as I don't go anywhere/continually wipe down packaging and wash my hands, is where the heck did I manage to get that from? I've been out far less than anybody else....
I hope it just disappears in the next few hours. But, it's bl00dy annoying. *sniff*
EDIT: On the mend.... throat/glands issues subsided... almost "back to normal" now with just a hint of "watch that/be careful".
I'm never ill... I guess being so "idle" 99.99% of the time, when I finally get any bug heading my way my body says "thank God for that, FINALLY something to do" and it goes off to fight it2 -
Try not to worry, PN, but keep an eye on your symptoms. Do you have a thermometer? It would be sensible to monitor your temperature. Drink plenty of water.
It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if you’re run down in your current situation - if you can do some online ordering it might be an idea to get yourself some vitamin pills given that you can’t cook or eat properly.2 -
Could it be hay fever PN, the pollen count is high at the moment. FYI it can suddenly come at any age I didn't get it until 15 years agoLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin4

PN - Hope you feel better today. I thought it might be hayfever too. I get a bit of a cough with mine.
I just had toast for breakfast. I have more soup for lunch along with a lettuce sandwich. Running low on food!2025 GOALS
