Wonder how much the Sun paid her for that bit of sensational junk journalism to get folk in a flap?
I have no doubt that silly folk are wasting and binning fresh food, but articles like that are just click bait to rile people, that's what sells newspapers, or at the moment, visiting websites which are no doubt ad-supported.7 -
She'll get her 15 mins of fame and probably the cost of the shopping she binned. What I don't understand other than why do it in the first place is why is she now throwing away food obviously not out of date or off, pickled onions, cheddar biscuits, tea bags etc, if they don't like it normally did she think CV19 was going to change their tastes?
Advantage of working from home is I was able to cook chicken soup for lunch from the stock I made yesterday. That little chicken from M&S did four meals plus three good portions of tasty soup 😋 I also made some chilli and a burger using the lovely butchers mince from the farmers market some which went in the freezer
Lunch was a portion of chicken soup, I know not soup weather but it was very tasty. Dinner was HM burger with added jalapeños (I found the dregs of a jar so some in the chilli and the rest in the burger). Rather than a bun I roasted a couple of portobello mushrooms and had it with roast asparagus and broccoli

It will be all fake Brambling....the food will all be back in her kitchen by now, possibly brought to her in the first place by that newspaper, just for the story, a bit of money for her that she may need. Really sad.
It's still soup weather, was stormy and thundery today here and a tad chilly.

It's always soup weather in my house unless there is a heat wave! Dinner tonight was a tasty use up - baked chicken curry from the freezer, oven chips with paprika and herbs and chopped salad using up various beginning to be sad veggies. It was a random plate but no LOs so it must have been good. Lamb here on Sunday, I've a small half leg in the freezer which I'll butterfly so it cooks really quickly. Fish pie tomorrow is the plan, though with a pastry topping rather than mash as I've have half a sheet of puff LO from yesterday's tarts.
Gnocchi are easy to make if pasta is scarce and don't use much flour, easy to scale for CFO amounts too and any surplus freeze well.5 -
'Morning allThe FR gammon shank is in the SC & smelling yummy.Although forecast is more of a salad type day I'll be having a roast dinner, mainly 'cos I've some super fresh veg and don't want to wait until it gains CFO "use or bin" statusI hope to maybe dig out some of the dried up gunge from my dried out pond, before rain comes back, thunder maybe Sunday.I may have a leak in the liner but at least I can make a start, it stinks when wet hence taking opportunity now it's dryLunch will be last of the pork luncheon meat + chutney sarnieDinner, SC FR pork shank as above, with more frozen ex XCFO roasties, carrots, steamed broccoli & cabbageAnd if I fancy a snack I've these from my neighbour's excursion for my prescriptionEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

It's still soup weather, was stormy and thundery today here and a tad chilly.I plan beef broth or similar for a late lunch or possibly tonight.Agree on food waste, saw on the news a few days ago bins full of food some still in date as people were so silly with panic buying (in some cases) they did not have enough storage space for it!Mind you there was a lady in a local supermarket about two weeks ago now with a trolley with at least 30 pot noodles in, as in the whole bottom of the trolley was full. If they let her have them all or said "take 12 or leave your whole trolley!" I have no idea. To be fair its entirely possible she could of been a care or similar worker and treating her colleagues or such I suppose. Just struck me as really odd when I walked past as that was all that was in the trolley (it was mid-isle so I was not being nosey, you could not avoid it)4 -
Supposed to eat fish aren't we today so in my usual pattern of strictly following religious rules its chicken for me
Teacake for brunch then I found a bag of flaming chicken tenders at the back of the freezer..a long while ago Costco buy so the plan is a big fat chicken burger with fries. Need to grab the pork joint out too for a nice roast on Sunday at this rate there will be dare I say it room in there! that won't last Im sure
I may have a cream egg later what an exciting life I live5 -
I had my hot cross bun this morning - and unlike @Nelski I am planning fish tonight. I have lots frozen, so will have it oven baked with lots of veg. Lunch is another huge salad with baba ganoush and sauerkraut to help with the antibiotic recovery (I had my last dose this morning).

Good afternoon everyone,
Snap re the hot cross buns Farway, I have the same ones. I had one toasted with melted cheese on it for my lunch today. We're following tradition and having fish tonight. I've pollock, smoked haddock and prawns defrosting to make a fish pie later.
It's dry and quite warm here though cloudy. Earlier my son and I sat out for a bit and enjoyed a leisurely cuppa. He's now busy wielding saws and drills doing some fence repairs while I put my feet up for a bit.4 -
Really hot again today, I roasted one hot X bun, with butter, after my sarnie lunch. Are yours flat Caron? Mine seem flatter than I remember hot X buns, but never had T*sco ones before, plus of course maybe neighbour squashed them carrying home. However not complaining, grateful to have them, and tasted the same I'm sureThe FR gammon hock smells yummy in the SC, veg is prepped so all set for dinnerI managed to clear my pond out, it's only a titchy one, the stuff that came out was lovely and crumbly so chucked it around my rhubarb
Waste not etc.
Looking nice outside now, every fruit tree is in blossom and bees are busy.If the weather holds for a few more days I should get a decent fruit set this year.
