Really hot again today, I roasted one hot X bun, with butter, after my sarnie lunch.
Are yours flat Caron? Mine seem flatter than I remember hot X buns, but never had T*sco ones before, plus of course maybe neighbour squashed them carrying home. However not complaining, grateful to have them, and tasted the same I'm sure
The FR gammon hock smells yummy in the SC, veg is prepped so all set for dinner

I managed to clear my pond out, it's only a titchy one, the stuff that came out was lovely and crumbly so chucked it around my rhubarb :) Waste not etc.
Looking nice outside now, every fruit tree is in blossom and bees are busy.If the weather holds for a few more days I should get a decent fruit set this year.

I wouldn't have said mine were flat, maybe not as round as a bread roll but still decently shaped. Does sound as though yours might have got a bit squished.
Shocking PN obviously thinks advice is for everyone else bar her and her cronies 😠

PN (not quoted obviously!) , does not surprise me unfortunately. The previous Scottish CMO 'visits' etc spring to mind for some reason, what was slightly more galling about that was she was their face on TV I think for the 'stay in' messages, I think so anyway I don't get STV etc. Can't really tell around here people are still going out but less often, as cars are moving about etc. Suspect there's -always- going to be a few % who completely ignore the rules, a fair few stories on BBC News site.

Regarding the noodley pots, the problem was the shelf was then virtually empty of them.
I did have for a change a batch's one (chicken/mush) a few weeks ago as they were 50p. All in all it was quite reasonable, had some peas in it too. Tried the beef one and really did not like its flavour at all.

Could not get into BM today, when I looked as I was approaching there were at least a dozen people (sensibly spaced!) queuing outside, the thought of waiting 40+ minutes to spend < £5 on bread / coffee / hot choc / some nibbles / couple of tins of soup etc did not appeal so I went to the local corner shop as its on the way back, have to walk past it anyway. Only major thing I forgot was some washing powder! But that can wait a few days, there's a bit left. Said "mini-shop" will keep me going now till Tues so I now in theory should not need to leave the house till then.

Unsure if its everywhere as not been more than 1/4 mile from house since this started but BM are afaik having slightly shorter opening times and they (unlike the Co-op that was the building before) close on a Sunday if its a B/Hol the following Monday.

Looks like its going to be a tin of H'z beef broth later , just realised I forgot to get some tinned veg of some description too! -sigh- , I'll leave that till Tues now, not going just for that.

PN the advantage of her going out so much is you get the house to yourself

I'm blaming you Farway for the pack of those hot cross buns jumping off the shelf when I was in T Exp for milk on my daily walk this afternoon, I've stopped at one and the rest are in the freezer for now, they will probably be flat once they come out 😐. I forgot my mother always had fish on Good Friday 🙂

I finally tackled the windows today, the window cleaner put me to shame and then the sunlight highlighted things even worst 🙄 the nets/voile which are only up at three windows went in the WM as well 😁  Whilst I was on a roll I tidied my wardrobes and bedroom drawers and put the small bedroom to rights as well as cleaning the bathroom before running out of steam lunch time.  The floors all need dealing with tomorrow and we won't mention the second bedroom which still has all the Xmas decs in.  There's loads of bags for the charity shop once they're open sitting in the otherwise tidy small bedroom and a small pile of rubbish stuff on the sofa for me to sort out during this evening.  The cup cake cookery book went into the charity bag 🙂

lunch was another bowl of HM chicken soup and dinner a bowl of the chilli I made yesterday with LO veg rather than rice, so a easy day food wise although perhaps not what I would usually have when it's tee shirt weather 🌞

    Good morning everyone,
Not t-shirt weather here this morning, it's drizzling and much cooler. Last night's fish pie was scummy apart from a little spare filling just the right size for two. Tonight I think I might be CFO😁 while my son has a virtual dinner with his dad and brother. He's talking about getting a takeaway but I'm not sure if I fancy one or will just cook something quick for myself.

Sorry Caron, still T shirt weather here, grass mowing beckons later, cooler forecast tomorrow so my French beans will stay in their pots fro the moment
The SC gammon shank turned out well, fall off bone well. I removed the rind & crisped it in the oven when I had the frozen roasties in. Visions of pork scratchings at the time, it worked OK but OMG it is very salty, too salty for me, be fine after a few pints in a pub I expect. I can see it being binned

Lunch will be some of the gammon in a sarnie, with English mustard I think
Dinner, more of the gammon, with HM AF chips + salad

Spotted this fella in next door's garden this morning, having his breakfast from the bird nut cage :D:smile:

The out of date place was a lucky find for me.  It's quite tiny, but large... parking has about 12 spaces and you really have to know where it is... I've never seen more than 4-6 people in there when I've gone.  As it's wholesale they sell everything by the case.  When I got the first case it was on a pallet of about 50 cases.  When I went last week they were close to the end of their stock, so the pallet only had about 20 cases left.

There's a lot I'd buy there if I had a house. Stuff I could easily use if I had a kitchen and all my cookware out... e.g. there've been a lot of slow cooker pouches, probably Homepride or something ... and jars of nice chilli ketchup but you have to buy 8 jars :)   I could use these things if I had the equipment/storage.

Morning all, going to be a warm one! As I write this its about 18c outside and last night here it only went down to about 11c. Going to be a tad warmer today.

I know what you mean, I've got an old Costo account but no means to get there, plus when I tried to renew it there was confusion as it was part of a company acc (but its not now) summary being I'd have to pay to renew, plus I'm not quite convinced they would currently have what I wanted. I missed out on the opportunity to get a cash/carry account a couple of months ago too.

Out of random interest, have you tried the Batch's noodle pots ? The pasta one's I'd not want myself but the noodle ones are decent for their price.

Local BM after very temp staff for shelf filling too, have already applied a few times last year so merely said the other day when I asked about and she said to supply details that they still have them on file and I may be available. Will leave it to them not sending in a fourth form. Last two were promised to be "kept on file" so ...

Regarding storage, one neighbour has one of those large clear perspex boxes, about 2ftx1ftx1ft thing with a plastic black lid, you know the ones. She uses it exclusively to put her tinned foods in as she's not got a huge amount of shelve/cupboard storage space, I may do that myself as its quite logical in a way.

Cheats breakfast, could not really face any weetibix even the choc chip ones so it was a few plain richtea biscuits with a coffee with a spoon of hot choc powder in!

Lunch is still much open to debate, I got 3 of those Hz's Lentil soups a few days ago (more accurately it was 6 for £4 so I grabbed 3beefy broth and thought I'd try the lentil for the others) , so its debatable if its beef broth or lentil for lunch. Can't have soup with high tomato content so I'm slightly restricted in that. Obviously said soup will have a small bit of extra veg thrown in for good measure! :D

    Good morning all,

yesterday and today both CF1 x 2 days. Yesterday was usual breakfast, cheese and ham toastie for HT for lunch - I had a dry fried egg on toast. Dinner was mac'n'cheese for him, fish and chips for me. I've had a request for pizza for tonight so I'll make him a ham and pepperoni pizza with tomato puree on the base. Mine will be a pepperoni pizza with chilli tomato puree on the base (but not as much chilli stuff as I put on the last one, it was a bit hot  :D ).

I'm going to make some chocolate cake for snacks - there are gingerbread bunny hugs in the biscuit tub too so we're OK there. We've done without our morning walk today because I wanted to clean the living room as well as make cake. We've concentrated on the garden for the last week so cleaning downstairs is much overdue. I have the long blinds for the french windows soaking in the bath.... It's teabreak time just now but I need to get on with it.

candygirl I just don't understand how anyone can throw away perfectly good food and seem so proud of it. The HT and I were pleased because after 2 weeks our general rubbish bin was only half full.

Take care all of you and stay safe :)

T*sco shopping arrived via ND, all there that I asked for, including 6 eggs, could be gammon, eggs & HM chips coming soon? Tempting
It's scorchio outside, hope you manage to get out PN it would be bad in this weather cooped up in one room, especially if LL is about

Grass mown, first cut of the year. All that's left now is prep my salad and peel some spuds for chips.

I decided to just boil some peas instead :) That and then cheeky bag of crisps, ahem. Soup is now on the menu for this evening.
Neighbour earlier said had to go to supermarket and the queue outside was bad, but it could not wait. Really going to avoid that before Tuesday/Wednesday now, with care should be possible to not leave the house. Postie did not bring my letter either, but half expected that, something else to chase (via email) on Tuesday.
