I definitely see a lot of green tomatoes in my future! I do like green tomato chutney (in moderation) but I have just spent a few minutes happily googling alternative recipes ..... green tomato cake sounds delicious, as does green tomato and lemon marmalade. Next weekend is shaping up to be busy, I think!

I decided to have a crack at a sort of cheat's version of the second of these three recipes using the 49p sweetheart cabbage I bought from S*insby's the other day Grilled hispi, Turkish cauliflower and coconut kale: Yotam Ottolenghi’s brassica recipes | Food | The Guardian
Following knowledgeable commenters from below the article I steamed my cabbage quarters until the core was slightly softened before adding the oil, salt and pepper, dry fried them and then sprinkled them with ground coriander and smoked paprika and freshly squeezed lime juice. They were delicious.

I think I might run to a few more of these cabbages which are really tasty and good value too.

    Fried green tomatoes...mmmmmmm
Remind me of being in North Carolina, and fried pickles.

Had one of my red toms with the bbq this evening. There's a few turning now so fingers crossed this week's late heat blast will be good for them.

I ended up running late this afternoon for various rather tedious reasons so contrived this impromptu mushroom and egg dish to go with some oven roasted butternut squash slices and a mixed salad.

    Happy birthday @kerri_gt.

We had jackets and salad. I just had boiled eggs with mine and cheese on the potato.

Others had chicken kebabs from the freezer in aldi with theirs.
