Haven't posted in a few days. Been very busy with life.

Made a chicken and veg soup for lunch (from the roast chicken dinner yesterday). Was very nice and enough left for lunch tomorrow. Teriyaki chicken with the leftover chicken and some rice for tea. Got yet more chicken out for tea tomorrow as I have been through the chest freezer and let's say there is enough in there to feed a small army. Therefore bar fresh veg and fruit, dairy (we go through a lot of cheese as OH can manage to eat that), and some extra packed lunch bits for DD2 we will be shopping from the freezer for the next two weeks. I've always had that in mind when I stash yet something else in the freezer but I am setting myself a challenge!

Edited to add - I never peel b/squash. I always roast it and scoop the flesh out. Normally do the same with sweet potatoes and blitz them in a soup with some chilli flakes and paprika. Life is too short for peeling something that fights back!

pizza tonight.  not HM I'm afraid but fairly plain so will decorate to taste.  OH tends to go for fish whereas I'm a true carnivore.

Had another portion of the curry with spaghetti that I unearthed from the larder while rearranging my preserving jars earlier this evening, had green salad on the side and am now enjoying a well deserved coffee before cutting myself a wedge of cheese.

LO korma, rice and naan from Sat takeaway.  So that's curry three nights running.

I have actually considered buying a small hacksaw just for squashes.

I have a couple of honking big 8 inch chef knives that do for them quite nicely.  But I'm talking about the smaller varieties - butternut, acorn not the mega pumpkin ones.  Then again - I find those are normally hollow so may actually be easier to slice.  Certainly making jack o lanterns for Hallowe'en has never been a problem even with a paring knife.

I meant the hacksaw for butternut squashes  :D Like you I find the hollow ones specifically grown for carving are generally ok to slice and dice although I don't tend to bother carving them much (don't really like the feel of them - make my hands itch)

More risotto tonight, added some more free sliced chestnut mushrooms in and grated some free courgette too.

Finally some of the tomatoes are also turning red. They've been a labour of love this summer that's for sure.

Just thought there's a few buns / rolls in the freezer that really need using up. Had assumed we'd have used the bbq more this year than we have. Will have to make an effort to clear those out.
