Shopped on Saturday but went to a friends for WW style dinner, I don’t like quorn mince its official

What was the quorn mince cooked with? If it's cooked right then you really shouldn't be able to tell much difference to normal mince.
it was in a ww style lasagna
Hmmm, I use quorn mince in mine sometimes and I can't say I notice it - then again I use lasagne to use up veg that are going past their best and by the time I've added the white sauce there's not much WW about it  - that might be the difference  :D

  • We solved the problem by going to the local tea room for lunch where I had cauli cheese with a hot baguette and HWK had lasagne and chips so supper tonight will be something light and probably eggy!
  • Smashed cucumbers and tahini noodles. Both slight riffs on proper Sichuan dishes, but cheap and easy.

We're in the process of moving house and more than half of our kitchen kit (and dry stores) are in the new place. However, the cooker and water aren't yet hooked up there so it isn't yet habitable, or, more importantly, cookable in.

I have half a sheet of puff pastry in the freezer which I need to use up, so I’m going to make it into a tart topped with baby spinach, flaked salmon and creme fraiche and serve it with a crisp green salad.

  • I've found a recipe in one of my books for a white bean and tomato stew with sweet potatoes which sounds tasty and I have all the ingredients so I'll give that a go for our main meal today.

I unearthed some sliced turkey from xmas in the freezer so heated that up with some yorkshire puds, petit pois, bread sauce (also from the freezer), tiny dollop of mash discovered lurking in the fridge and some gravy. For something cobbled together and thinking 'we don't have much in' it was really nice.

  • Hello everyone.  It's genuinely years since I last participated in one of these threads, although I occasionally have a quick read to see what you're all up to.  Anyway, I just happen to have been keeping tabs on my dinners for the past week, so I'm going to join in.  Since I was last involved, our shopping and eating habits have changed a little; I'm still vegetarian (35+ years) but my carnivorous DH has requested that I stop buying meat for him (carbon footprint related), although he's not officially veggie as he'll still eat meat if he eats out.  He's also asked for a reserve of tinned tuna for baked potatoes  :) .  The other change here is that I stopped buying all plastic packaged foods a couple of years ago, as well as becoming an avoider of palm oil and boycotting the least ethical corporations (especially Nestlé).  It's a doable change, but only if I'm prepared to put in the time and effort.  Surprisingly, it's not added to my budget, probably because I can't buy all the junk and extras I used to...  ;)

So the past week has looked like this:
Thursday 20th - Vegetable casserole, mashed potatoes, tinned sweetcorn
    Friday 21st -
L/O casserole with added sweetcorn & l/o baked beans, cauliflower & broccoli cheese, yorkshire puddings
    Saturday 22nd -
Leftover cauli cheese for me, cheese on toast for DH as he was out for lunch with his son
    Sunday 23rd -
Cheese omelette, roasted cauli & broccoli, mushrooms, baked beans
    Monday 24th -
    Veggie tagine, veg couscous, hummus
    Tuesday 25th -
Leftovers from Monday for me (with l/o baked beans from the fridge added to the tagine), DH out
    Wednesday 26th -
Fried eggs, sweet potato chips, mushrooms, baked beans, fried bread
Avoiding plastic, palm oil, UPF and Nestlé
