  • Planning for turkey, veg, gravy and trying out the Kenwood chef for mashed potatoes as have see a lot of posts saying it makes the best mash!

Can report the mash was sooooo creamy and yummy, made far too much though! Will defo be using this method from now on. Not sure but think as it came out more creamy than normal, I could use less butter and milk than I usually use, making it healthier and more MSE!

I'm not sure such a thing a too much mash exists does it? :D my mum told me that she'd seen one chef saying to beat the mash with a wooden spoon to fluff it up...works the muscles too :rotfl:

Yesterday we went round to a friend's for lunch, had spinach and ricotta lasagne with cherry and rhubarb crumble with custard. Then had bagels later in the evening. Saw in several NY across the globe and was a really lovely way to celebrate.

Today OH has requested roast potatoes, as I haven't cleaned the try from Xmas and have loads of potatoes in I figured it was as good a time as any to make them. Not sure what we'll have with them though.

Great tip about the Kenwood chef sunset gold. I’ve just bought an old retro reconditioned one and will definitely try this out next time we have mash.

Today, we we are having lamb, Mediterranean veg and hassleback potatoes. Apple crumble for pud.

We went out for lunch with 2 hungover parents, after us babysitting for GS, we ended up with chilli burgers and string fries, it was surprisingly good, although not the usual thing I’d go for :D

In order to celebrate the start of "Organuary"* a friend bought 2 Waitrose lambs liver with streaky bacon and mash potato ready meals. Yup..... disgusting!

    * it's Veganuary but healthy. Eating the whole animal rather than just the premium cuts. I do that anyway but if I can get others to do the same then fanastic

Post might offend non meat eaters - sorry

    Mr S why’s it disgusting?

For many years I raised stock, known every morsel it’s eaten, every vets visit etc had it slaughtered within a few hundred feet of my home (neighbour) butchered by myself, use every piece of those animals down to their blood for pudding - that’s showing appreciation for an animal, not just picking something up from a shelf - you pay your money, you make your choice prime cuts or offal it’s provenance isn’t clear

For the record F&M closed my small holding, not directly, but was an issue in my local and the paperwork outweighed the effort - I still support my local farm friends by buying from them.

I'm guessing from Mr S's usual posts, that he meant the ready meal part was disgusting not the fact it was offal.

Roast spuds, quorn southern coated nuggets and beans here tonight. Not exactly the most healthy :o
