I made and froze some bubble and squeak cakes last week to use up the last of the sprouts from Christmas lunch (I’d shredded and pan fried them with bacon and pine nuts, and they were lovely .... but we still ended up with loads left over!)

So tonight we are having a simple supper of sausages with crispy fried bubble and squeak, with plenty of ketchup and a glass or three of red wine :)
  • We're having home made parsnip and apple soup with parsnip crisps and blue cheese sprinkles followed by home made rum and raisin ice-cream and fresh pineapple. I'm still using up from Christmas and will be for some time to come
Nothing in it, nothing in it but a ribbon round it .....

We went out for an Indian meal. I had my usual, poppadoms, onion bagee and vegetable biriani. Food was fine, not spectacular but it was nice to be out and not have to cook.
  • Arancini made from leftover risotto - which had butternut squash, bacon and sage in it. Served with roasted red pepper and tomato sauce from the freezer.

Need to use more stuff from the freezer, I'm running out of room!

We had a brilliant day yesterday, planning a quiet one today.

Have put a chicken in the slow cooker, some for dinner tonight, some for freezer curry makings for another day, stock will be made for soup too.

MIL coming round so, chicken, gammon, mash, pickles and sticky toffee pudding for her.

I might pop to the shop later as we’re running low on fresh veg and our veg box delivery isn’t till Friday

Off to do a freezer audit, it needs a dam good clean too.

Tonight we are having penne pasta Bolognese, cooking a meat version and a meat free version as we have a vegetarian staying for a few days.

Finally sliced, diced and portioned the remaining Christmas LO and put them in the freezer, also rejigged the shelves. We seem well stocked ATM, think I'll make a turkey casserole next week which will use up some veg in the fridge, HM stock and a portion of diced turkey.

We still seem to have a mountain of cheese and chocolates.

Last of the left overs tonight, sliced turkey, bubble and squeak and some gravy.
