what spice mix is it that you got?  I only ask as I'm off that way next month having never been before.  (to Crete specifically rather than Greece itself)

Tonight's plan was to have pork chops with rice and I thought that I'd roast some of the frozen peppers etc that I have.  But the neighbour stopped by with a very large portion of fresh picked runner beans so I'm wondering about having mash and the beans instead.  Rice with runner beans doesn't seem right somehow.
I got one that said souvlaki on the tub. I also got a small one for potatoes, that I wish I had bought more of as it was really good.  As well as a tzatziki one and a couple of others. Came like this, at €2.50.

I bought them from a local supermarket, which I popped to to buy water and some pepsi max.

    Love greek food.

Tonight we just had the Aldi extra special beer battered cod.  It's in the fridge at Aldi, and costs £3.75 for 2 pieces. We like it cooked in the actifry with oven chips.  Served with mushy peas.

Again another changing menu....it was supposed to be a couple of rib eye on the bbq with a side of chips.  I was going to get that bit of truffle butter that's in the freezer out to top it (bought at Aldi, I think, just before Christmas, about 75g selling for about £2 reduced to 20p as it obviously hadn't sold at all).  But we don't have enough chips.  So someone has suggested KFC instead.  I swear it wasn't me.  And don't mention it to anyone on the weight loss board.

    lovely dinner tonight.

Went to a local community support farm shop and they picked some swiss chard fresh for me.  They also had nice freshly dug potatoes.  So those with a baked salmon made a lovely dinner.  I cut the stalks off the chard and will have those tomorrow or Monday.

forgot to mention dinner on Wednesday.....

at Monday's art class we were doing a still life featuring some lovely looking pears (from a 4 pack from Tesco, lovely green through to red tones, perfect for a watercolour) and the tutor said she doesn't like pears to eat so the 2 of us there took them home with us.

So the question was what to do with them.  I like a pear to eat, to have with breakfast yoghurt etc but was considering poaching them.  And when I googled how to do this came across a recipe to cook them with pork.  So that's what I did!!

    1 onion fairly thinly sliced.
2 pears, not skinned but top, tailed, quarter and the core sliced away
1 long red pepper seeded, quartered and thinly sliced.
    50 g feta cubed
    2 pork chops.

So started by frying the onions to brown a bit, added the pear quarters and after a minute or two the red pepper.  Add a glug of cider I was planning on drinking with dinner along with a bit of soy sauce and worcester to deepen the colour and flavour.  When the pan was mostly deglazed I added the pork chops and browned for a few minutes on both sides and then left to ensure they were nicely cooked.  I was using a heavy all metal fry pan so I could then just throw the feta on top and stick under the grill for a minute or 2.  Served with mashed potatoes.

All very tasty if I do say so myself.

I cooked a two week out of date gammon joint (oops) in the PKP last night so I had that with a crusty roll and pate!  The gammon smelled and tasted fine.

It was what I fancied and, now that I have no children at home, I can do what I like! (I miss them though)
