Mister C J has gone off out canoeing all day despite the thunderstorm forecast, and since I have no idea what time he will be back I needed a supper with some flexibility. I am making Goan spiced slow cooked pulled pork which will be served with chapattis, carrot salad and a drizzle of yogurt.

CJ - the Goan spiced pulled pork sounds lovey. How do you make it?

Today lunch will be HM leek & potato soap with a slice of wholemeal bread. Dinner tonight will be sticky salmon; stirfry veg & noodles.

Well last night OH had pizza and I have fish in the bag and rice.
No idea what the menu plan is today....well indeed there isn't one, I'm enjoying the weekend doing sweet FA which means I'm still in my pjs and not planning anything.

  • Moved planner around and having soup with 1/2 tin baked beans in it for late lunch. Have put chicken breast in SC with few sliced mushrooms, still frozen little pepper (not chopped) orange juice (frozen as ice cubes) and some still frozen lemon halves which had been squeezed and some l/o stock from yesterdays chicken meal. Will have with rice (from freezer, bought from Iceland but never had before) and peas/sweetcorn and last of frozen asparagus. Sounds such a lot just for me but basically chick breast, rice & veg. Quite looking forward to it. Got last 2 carrot cupcakes out as well so quite a bit from freezer.

We're having a 'buffet' of cold Italian/Spanish meats, a range of olives, various nice breads and some cold white wine.

Very little. I should have listened when Grandfather Witless advised never drinking on an empty head.

If you go to bbcgoodfood.com and search for Slow Cooker Goan Pulled Pork you will find the recipe, including the carrot salad. The recipe says to use 250ml cider vinegar which I thought sounded way too much, so I used probably only 50ml vinegar and topped up the rest of the liquid with apple juice. Even then it smelled really vinegary to start with, but it is nearly cooked now and smells wonderful!

(Sorry, I usually hyperlink the recipes for people to click on but am on my phone not desktop and I can!!!8217;t seem to find the URL)
