  • @JIL - hope you’re feeling better today.

We had leftovers last night for dinner - the M&S meal deal did us proud, albeit we were one child down (at a sleepover).

Going to the cinema this afternoon so need something quick for dinner later. Probably sausages and mash, will peel the potatoes before we go.

Making pork in creamy cider sauce today - might just chuck it all in the pot and slow cook, casserole style.  Beautiful, bright day here, would rather be in the garden than the kitchen 👍

@Islandmaid please can you post how to make your pork in cider sauce please. For some reason I struggle to do pork in sauce. Thanks in advance.

Still not feeling 100% there was loads of stuff going on at work and home last week and maybe it just caught up with me.

Anyway today theres a small piece of brisket in the slowcooker in a bottle of Guinness. I will do a cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and veg with it. Will also plate up an extra two for the inlaws for tomorrow.

We are having some lambs liver with onion gravy and a mix of steamed Winter vegetables.
The sprouts were yellow stickered to 28p for 500g. I bought loose red onions, carrots, parsnips, and a leek because they were all cheaper per kilo than packaged and I got just the amount I wanted.
Pudding is a slice of the large Christmas pudding 39p from Aldi sale in January. It will keep in the fridge now it is opened. Proper custard made with eggs and vanilla extract because the hens are laying well.
We have Sunday chocolate ration as our weekly treat, a 33p 100g bar of dark chocolate between the two of us.

Mr F brought home some lush celebration cake yesterday so I just that with cups of tea last night.
Today I have already done dinner as I was so tired when I came home from Church - may not have been up to cooking later on. There is an afternoon service but not sure if I will attend.
    We had quiche - again.

@Islandmaid, thankyou so much for posting, will definitely give it a go. I often see pork shoulder and I have only ever done pulled pork with it.

My small piece of brisket has been in the slow cooker on low for 6 hours and still not done!!

Leg of lamb tonight - OH is cooking and I've collected the requested rosemary from the garden.  New potatoes and peas.  Had to go to the shops - he wanted lamb bisto (yuck to bisto in any colour!) and I picked up a bag of ready made yorkshires too.

Last night we had some mini sachertorte ice creams from Lidl - very very nice.
