I've bought a small haggis and a tin of cullen skink (£3.70 gasp!!!) and shortbreads as someone thinks we might be celebrating Burns Night. Personally I don't think we will be as I've never cooked haggis (well it's an excuse to get me off the hook) and I couldn't get any nips (well we have a turnip in the kitchen that didn't get used at Christmas but I was looking for the Aunt Bs frozen carrot and swede). So the haggis will need to wait until the OH is vertical enough to deal with it. Pleased I was able to find a small one at a reasonable price (of course sure to be discounted tomorrow...) as when I've let the OH buy one on his own he generally has come home with that would serve all of Scotland. This will likely do us for 2 meals at most or as 1 main course one day and a starter of some sort on another.
So I also bought chicken thighs and fries and salad stuff as that will be easier on a post op tummy I think. And I can do it all without thinking too hard. OH had suggested "kfc" chicken but the Tasco by us didn't have any which hopefully will not be a problem. Having said that he did mention yesterday how bad I am at provisioning for when he returns from somewhere. Noted instance was when he had to go to China for nearly a month and when he came home there wasn't any milk available and he'd not had any the whole time he was away.
As for shopping - he's normally fairly good on his own but does come home with too many chocolate biscuits, doesn't like if I give him a list of essentials (!!!!) and ignores me if I text him to let him know something extra is required.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Actually I hate it when OH wants me to go shopping with him as he wanders around the shop, walks off if I stop off to look for something seemingly vanishing into thin air. I tend to go up and down the aisles but he tends to circle the shop and goes off in random directions. I think all of our husbands are related - I always try to leave mine at home as otherwise he makes ‘helpful’ suggestions which inevitably cost more money and fills the trolley with cereal (I think he would live on cereal if I were away for any length of time!).We are having slow cooker beef casserole, macaroni and broccoli.Books read 2023 - 49/753

Husbands are definitely related. Maybe they do it on purpose as they know we won't ask them again in a hurry?
Tonight was (no)chicken kiev, chips and beans. Easy and quick.
Fridge freezer has now been fixed (hurrah!) so I'm in the process of putting everything back in which should be interesting. I'm doing it a bit at a time so the freezer door isn't open for a long period.
We have an unusual amount of veg given that 50% of the household (i.e. OH) don't really like veg, and also lots of frozen bananas still from Olio. Actually I might get one out to make pancakes in the morning.
So, we don't need any freezer food for a while and I have plenty of veg and ingredients for casseroles etc.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I too get stressed when my husband comes shopping. It’s just as bad with my daughter. That being said she is more open to try new things if she chooses them. I still end up spending more. This is why I shop online
dinner tonight was fish cakes I got reduced from lidl. Actually really nice, I’ve paid twice the price for fish cakes that tasted worse than them. I did a kinda potato thingy with peppers, onions and tomatoes. It was very nice I enjoyed it:money::rotfl::T3 -
Cottage pie here tonight, I’ll have steak and mushrooms
OH does have alot of amazing qualities and skills, just shopping isn’t one of em 🤣Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Morning all
defrosted the last pork joint for dinner tonight. This was one from the half price meat offer in Tesco during December. I’ll do it in the airfryer again as it came out really nice last time. Served with roast potatoes and veg. I think I’ve still got some broccoli left and carrots, then peas because my daughter likes them. I’ll also do her some orange (sweet) potatoes. Gallons of gravy and apple sauce too:money::rotfl::T5 -
Well, I'm sorry ladies, but my OH is absolutely brilliant at shopping! He can sniff out a bargain at 100 paces and is the King of the yellow stickers. He won't buy sweets and "rubbish" and will eat anything I cook.

Selection on the menu is frozen battered fish (to have with chips), chicken thighs (to have with chips) or steak (to have with something beginning with a C). And salad. I'll let him on the couch decide.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
