Glad you enjoyed your dinner @Islandmaid - we had a fab meal too (mackerel starter, Longhorn beef fillet perfectly cooked main, and a cheeseboard to finish) but with scarcely any change from £400 for the four of us, it’s just as well it was delicious! Mind you, we did polish off two bottles of wine which accounted for a chunk of that 😂
Tonight we’re having a roast turkey dinner, using an enormous turkey thigh bought and frozen before Christmas, and the veg/stuffing/pigs in blankets left over from Christmas lunch. The turkey thigh is mahoosive, so I hope to get another one (or poss two) meals out of it this week. Maybe turkey fricasse, as I have the bits for that.
I’ll be making a tiramisu for this week’s puds, too.4 -
As the OH is still in hospital I still get to suit myself so I've got a nice rump steak (prefer those to the pricier types for having more flavour) and will do a jacket potato to be topped with rocket and yoghurt (should be sour cream but this is good greek yoghurt so will be just as tasty). I may succumb to doing some of the cheese stuff jalapenos for nibbles. Feeling virtuous in that I looked at dessert when I was shopping but didn't buy any.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I made some shortcrust pastry before I went to the afternoon service. Plan to make some quiches and a jam tart.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Out for lunch with OH and SIL earlier, i missed the full english by 30mins so had the veggie Sunday roast instead. Very nice it was too.
Said to OH we'd have to remember that in future, and I'd order at 11.55 for the breakfast menu, he could order at 12.05 for the lunch menu.Wasn't really hungry until about 8pm when I polished off some LO pasta for dinner.
We were out at a friends birthday last night so buffet grub for dinner, sarnies and sushi and a few bits, plus a lovely choc cake.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

@kerri_gt I would never have thought of doing that as an option. But will definitely use it in the future.
I made pork, stuffing, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, cabbage, root mash and green beans. Plated it up and sent two plates to the inlaws.
Made a big pot of vegetable soup with a few dumplings.
Made pack ups for the next couple of days and made parkin while the oven was on. Husband helped tidy up and sort the dirty dishes.
I then had an afternoon nap, at 5pm we heated our plated dinners in the microwave. Finished off with some parkin and custard. It was lovely just to pop the dirty dishes in the dishwasher afterwards and not deal with a load of pots and pans, because they were all done earlier.5 -
I picked up a big bag of spinach and a couple of tubs of ricotta from the Community Fridge on Saturday and they need using up fairly quickly as they are on a short use-by date, so last night I made the base of a spinach and ricotta lasagne which I’ll assemble later today. I do like it when an unexpected extra ‘free’ meal lands on the menu plan!
@JIL I really like getting the cooking and clearing away done earlier in the day too, it makes me feel like I’ve taken the evening off 🤣3 -
I made 2 quiches yesterday so they are in the fridge and we will eat some for dinner tonight.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Yesterday we all had beans on toast for dinner as we’d been out earlier, spotted a hot food market and decided to stop for lunch. Eldest and I had rice bowls - hainanese chicken for him, mushroom and tofu for me, youngest and DH had beef and potato gozleme. All delicious, and half the price of a restaurant meal out.
Tonight we’re having teriyaki salmon with pak choi and ginger rice.Books read 2023 - 49/755
