@Brie Mister CJ isn’t convinced anyone here is real either 🤣🤣
@kerri_gt Sorry to hear about the fridge freezer going on the blink, but at least you didn’t lose much. It’s probably the worst appliance to have troubles with!Tonight I used up the last of the roast turkey thigh, chopping it up with onion, garlic, green pepper, mushrooms, fresh parsley, a handful of frozen peas, a teaspoon of cayenne and a slosh of cream. Served it with a little spoonful of creamy mash, and it was really tasty.3 -

I picked up some rainbow carrots for 30p and made a vegetarian shepherd's pie and a vegan one. ( one had quorn in, the other a tin of lentil and cereals)
What a fuss when the purple carrots were spotted in the mix.
Must have been nice, because I thought I had made enough for 2 leftover lunches (1 of each) and it's all gone.5 -
*dramatic slump on the sofa*Rant alert 🚨just back from Aldi, with a 3yo in tow - obviously chose the exact same time as everyone else in the vicinity to shop.
Can I ask, why do couples of a certain age shop together, but the male partner if just there to stand in the middle of an extremely busy aisle, with the trolley, normally sideways, ignoring the build up of traffic he has caused, whilst the OH is head first in one of the fridges trying to find the longest dated piece of cheese….. my polite and increasingly desperate plea of ‘excuse me’ being out of range of hearing, or being ignored, ladies PLEASE leave hubby in the car…. RANT over 🤗

It's the people who stand either side of the aisle with their trolleys at a angle having a chat that get me. had some the other day and everytime I said "excuse me" one of them would shift ever so slightly assuming that I will get me and my even wider trolley through the 6 inches they were allowing. Eventually I said in a very loud (slightly American, so they wouldn't accuse Canadians of being rude) voice "Hey! Can you shift your chat to a Starbucks so the rest of us can get our shopping done?" Good thing I had my force fields up given the laser like glares I was given.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I hate it when Mister CJ decides he wants to accompany me to Aldi. I am trying valiantly to stick to a budget, and he thwarts this by cruising the middle aisles and then shovelling screwdriver sets, garden incinerator bins and wetsuits into my trolley. I wish they had a husband creche where I could leave him
I picked up a good range of free veg from the community fridge yesterday - red peppers, spring onions, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms and beansprouts - and also some packs of Hello Fresh noodles and a block of tofu the size of a house brick so we'll be having a tofu noodle veg stir fry thing tonight.5 -
@Brie if I let Mr IM go grocery shopping unaccompanied, he would come back having spent the equivalent of the country’s national debt on useless rubbish from the middle aisles, the entire stores chocolate biscuits and 3 bags of crisps for the week
@C_J are our husbands related? 🤣Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

It certainly sounds like it! I had to send him shopping on his own once when I had twisted my ankle and couldn't drive, and he returned (with all the chocolate, biscuits and crisps in the world) announcing that they "don't sell cat food in Aldi" while proudly brandishing an 42 piece socket set. It's a good job I love him.4

No cooking for me - had dinner at SA - a roast - turkey crowns needed to be used to make space in the freezer - followed by Christmas pudding & custard or trifle.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
