  • I made a chicken, rice and lemon soup to use up leftovers and it whilst I thought it was perfectly nice it got rejected by the teen. Her loss, means I've got another portion for lunch tomorrow.
  • Eldest has decided to do cooking for part of his queen scout award, so tonight he made an absolute mess for me to clean up, errr I mean he made us sausage ragu with linguine.

    It was tasty though.

@happydenial perhaps you should suggest they also do a 'cleaning up' badge too.

Dinner tonight was pasta with tomato and butternut squash sauce liberated from the freezer incident. Tomorrow will be the same but i may add some extra bits in mine too.

I was also good when i stopped in Aldi and tried to shop for meals only...which was disappointing when i got home and wanted a snack. Just realised how much milk has gone up, we usually get a 6 pinter but local Lidl has only had 4 pinters for ages, got a 6-er in Aldi tonight and did a double take at the price.

  • @kerri_gt - very good point! Glad your freezer is up and running again.

To be fair to him, we do tend to operate a ‘whoever cooks doesn’t clean up’ policy in our house, but I tend to tidy as I go so they generally only have to stack the dishwasher.

The whole thing was giving me flashbacks of all the messy microwave mug cakes and bread rolls they had to make over zoom during lockdown, hopefully never again!

@Islandmaid Frank is absolutley gorgeous  <3 welcome to the forum Frank

@happydenial I get the 'if you cook you don't clean up' idea in principle - although I would worry that it just gives the chef the opportunity to use every pot and pan willy nilly.
I got rid of our microwave (well it's in the loft and I haven't needed or really missed it so far) when I bought the air fryer last year as there was only one spot the air fryer could really go - so no microwave anything here any more incl no microwave explosions.  :)

Oh, that has just remdined me though - I need to get the bog out of the freezer to mix in with my pasta later.

Tell eldest that you'll report him to Baden Powell if he doesn't follow through to a clean kitchen after his endeavours over the stove.

@Islandmaid Oh Oh Oh! Frank is gorgeous!! That lovely wrinkly puppy skin that he still has to grow into 😁😁😁

I’ve had a busy day shopping and running errands, so instead of cooking the planned Bobotie from scratch tonight, it’ll be a couple of portions of bolognese meat sauce from the freezer and I’ll cook a small amount of spaghetti to go with it.
