I bought some Harry Ramsden jumbo fish fingers, they were £5 for 6. Cooked us 2 each for dinner with actifry chips and peas.
Not impressed, very strong fish taste and some of the fish had skin on.

Wont buy them again, but much cheaper than the chip shop.
That reminds me of when we took my nephew to London when he was about 14. Stopped for lunch at a pub in Greenwich and he refused to eat the fish because it had skin and didn't look like the fish fingers his dad bought.
I explained that fish does have skin and to eat the fish or not but nothing else was forthcoming (mean Aunty). I can't recall if he did eat it, but I'm sure he ate pudding.

Last night was HM pizza. Aldi now do a big bag of grated mozzarella which is great value (a rare thing these days) for pizza. I had ham, olives, tomato and jack cheese on mine and OH had jalapeños and spicy cheese.

I'm not a fan of fish skin, if I buy fish I dont mind the skin on the bottom, that's easy to deal with. These were described as fish fillet, but the skin was running through the middle of the fish. Obviously a few bits of fillet stuck together.
Shame as to date I have always been impressed with the Harry Ramsden products for a quick Friday dinner.

I buy the aldi mozzarella it is really good value, but it sells out quickly.

Tonight I'm doing cous cous with added veg, houmous, lamb tagine, salad, halloumi and pitta breads.

When I was young we rarely had fish and only had fish and chips maybe once a year (non UK and our city of 120k people had 1 f&c shop).  I didn't like the fish and would try to get away with just eating the batter.  The shop was near a friend's place and she introduced me to their special which was a "poke" (small paper cone) of chips which they sold for 5 cents.  And malt vinegar!

Fast forward I do like fish a lot now but would rather not have the battered type.  Meanwhile OH loves his f&cs and is over the moon if the piece has the skin.

And tonight we're having tbone steaks and jacket potatoes as it's the start of my birthday week.  OH was going to charcoal bbq them but it's drizzling so I think it will be the griddle pan instead.

how did the sale go today?  did you contribute some of your cakes??? (picture proof please)

I’m going to attempt to cook a couple of chicken breasts and some roast potatoes in the Ninja Foodi tonight, along with some cabbage, carrots and peas. I hope I don’t cremate it all.

Have just processed a bucket full of cooking apples, the last of the windfalls from our tree. I’ve made a couple of Dorset Apple cakes, a massive apple pie, and four jars of apple sauce.
