Reheated a jacket spud I'd prev cooked in the air fryer (did two at once to see what they were like) with beans and cheese.

@Brie that sounds a rather delicious spread albeit from sad circumstances. I do wonder if I might become one of these old ladies who just turns up at random wakes for the food one day.

Had a bit of a cancer health scare over the past 10 days, never had so many medical appointments - just waiting for results after a small op on Monday. Thinking that as it’s now Thursday and I’ve heard nothing, they can’t think it’s anything sinister. Isn’t our NHS fab 🫶 let’s hope the government doesn’t mess it up 🤞

food has been a bit random, but have got back into the swing today and restocked, a stir fry with rice noodles for them, bean sprouts for me.  Have some ham stock to make into soup for tomorrow night, even though the Sun is out and it’s showing 22° in our garden 🤗 still be nice to pretend it’s autumn 😊

I think feeding random strange old ladies (& gents) should be part of the funeral party regime!!

I'm considering renting myself out as a mourner.  Doesn't matter who the ceremony is for I always end up sobbing.  People were very sweet to me (I know she was just your MiL but she obviously meant a lot to you.) as I sniveled away.   Quite frankly I well up watching puppies in toilet paper ads on tv so anything genuinely sad makes me a basket case.

A Zio di Roma, a uncle from Rome.

Your comments reminded me of a Neopolitan tradition that poor families to present a good impression would hire a Uncle from Rome to give a bit of prestige to the occasion.Usually a well dressed and cultured chap who was a bit down on their luck would be employed.

Sorry to hear of your loss, keep well.

  • I love North Indian dishes. All Aloo Paratha is my favorite because this is the only North Indian dish which I know to do. I made this dish from the left over Potato Masala Poriyal which was made for lunch.

Hope all is well with you @Islandmaid. You’re right, the NHS is fantastic and picking things up early makes such a difference. Fingers crossed here that all is benign.

We shall be watching Strictly tonight with a glass of wine and a Chinese Fakeaway - I will be making some sweet chilli chicken and special fried rice, and I have bought some ready made spring rolls. They are never as nice as proper takeaway ones, but they’ll do!
