I made a 'deconstructed' shepherds pie tonight, saved putting the oven on. We ate it with green beans and a dollop of brown sauce. Home-made scone and a coffee after.

Finished the last portion of Sunday's use it up veg and lentil stew with cous cous and salad followed by a windfall apple chopped up with an orange squeezed over it and then topped with flapjack crumbs from today's baking.

First go at cooking some small baked potatoes for six mins in microwave then about 35 mins in the oven as it was on for veg sausage rolls and cakes. Used up an over-ripe banana and zest/juice of a lime with sultanas and spice in the cakes. This is the most I've managed to bake at once so far in the single-shelf small oven/grill, haven't used the bigger oven below it for ages.
Had the sausage rolls and baked potatoes with marrowfat peas and chopped tomatoes.

We had fish and chips. From the local. Posters up all around the shop apologising for the price increases.
We used to have a children's meal each,  which was a mini fish, chips and peas. £4.50. It's now £7 without peas.

I bought a fish, large portion of chips and peas for £11.75. More than enough for two and hopefully a contribution to keep the shop going. Its been open for more than 30 years.

I’m making cod in parsley sauce tonight, probably just with a side of green veg but maybe with a little mashed potato depending on the lunchtime carb intake.

I also need to peel, core and chop a mountain of cooking apples but I’m still feeling a bit rubbish after my flu jab the other day.

How lovely to have a family get-together!

I’m part-way through making a pie for dinner tonight - I’ve made too much shortcrust pastry, but will freeze the unused half for another time. Pie filling is minced beef, with diced shallots and mushrooms which came from the Community Larder yesterday. It will be served with mashed potato, peas and carrots (all from CL too).

I’ve also made a pan of carrot, red lentil and chilli soup for lunch tomorrow, have made five pints of beef bone broth in the slow cooker (I put a mug full of this over the dog’s dry biscuit mix in the evenings), and made a pressure cooker full of the dog’s morning food (cheap bits and bobs from the butcher such as lamb’s heart, ox liver and bone-free mince, to which I added carrots, potatoes, peas and rice which were all from the CL ….. it works out cheaper than tinned dog meat, and he much prefers it!)

When the oven goes on to bake the pie tonight, I will also be filling the oven with a couple of cakes, some cookies and some jacket potatoes.

I now need a cup of tea and a sit down 😂

Pushed the boat out last night. One of our local Chinese (well not sure how local, but delivers to me) are doing two for one on  Beef fried rice, salt and pepper chicken wings, and I got beef satay two for one as well. Spent quite a bit but have frozen lots of it...so, lots nice little Chinese meals to be had when I fancy it
