Hubby works for a supermarket and the staff get to take home things that are end of dates/no longer being sold, so we are very lucky to occasionally get meat we wouldn't normally spend on. Well freezer emptying isn't going so well. Picked up a TGTG bag today which was great value but most has needed to be frozen. Freezer is full again. Oops.
Dinner tonight was the last 4 chicken goujons, beans, some HM chip liberated from the freezer and at the last min i decided to add a fried egg too.
Very nice it was as well.

I went in Asda for cooking bacon on Saturday and they were out of stock. I expect when it is back in stock - there will be a price increase from 75p for 500g. I got 2 packs of cooking bacon in £land today - 600g so not a bad deal. Cooking bacon is so versatile - I make egg & bacon pie + put it in quiches + liver & bacon casserole as well as frying decent rashers for a meal.Jacket potato + HM cheese & tomato pastie + tomatoes & chestnut mushrooms tonight for dinner. Filled oven - did extra potatoes + cooked a pack of Bratwurst sausages - they will go in freezer and then just be warmed in mw.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I have an assortment of veg which I got from the Community Fridge over the weekend, which need using up. Cauliflower, tenderstem broccoli, carrots, red onions, garlic, red pepper, courgette, potato, sweet potato, a carton of Hello Fresh cannellini beans and a mini tin of sweetcorn kernels - so that’s all being turned into several portions of cheesy vegetable bake. It’s only the components of the cheese sauce that I’ve had to buy, and the grated mozzarella was YS 😀. All very cheap and cheerful, but so nice on a cold damp autumn evening.4

This evening I made a hearty veg casserole with red onion, tomatoes, sweet pepper, celery, potato, sun-dried tomatoes, fennel and caraway seeds, buckwheat and red lentils, served over slices of grilled veg sausage. A slice of wholemeal bread and dairy-free spread to go with it. Homemade fruit scones and sugar-free strawberry jam after.3

Non chicken katsu fillets with vegetable rice. Fillets done in the air fryer.
Also had a yum yum square from yesterdays TGTG bag. Paul and Prue would not have been impressed. Oil was clearly not hot enough when they were cooked so very greasy. .. not that it will stop me eating the other two 🤣Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
