I won't be cooking dinner today. Been to Church this morning and going back for Cafe Church at 4pm. I gave out the caramel topped cakes this morning and kept the jam/coconut ones for the service later. I will take the egg & bacon pies with me this afternoon - new recipe for me - I usually take sausage rolls as my contribution to tea.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Spaghetti puttanesca and broccoli with blackberry and apple pie after
Cheap ingredients and foraged blackberries make it fairly frugal and wholegrain pasta and broccoi mean it has some nutrition for a meal considered a treat by us. Also managed to use up some lurking olives and 1/4 jar pesto from the fridge.4 -
We are having a big Greek salad with garlic and herb monkey bread on the side (random Costco purchase), and some sausages for those that want. The Chana Dahl was a hit last night, I only made half the recipe just in case, but it went nicely with our chicken curry and I had the leftovers for lunch.Books read 2023 - 49/753

Off in a bit to make the rest of the apples into sauce most of which will be frozen although some might be wanted with the pork we're having for dinner. With pak choy and new potatoes.
Afters will be some of the leftover apple almond pudding. I really like it despite it being a Delia recipe (just don't like her! too much of a fussbudget!!!). It's annoying though as the recipe calls for 4 oz of ground almonds but the tiddly pack contains nearly 5 oz so it will be wasted unless I can find a reason to use it. Might end up just dumping into another cake or muffins at some point.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. kerri_gt said:@Brie I'd be tempted just to use the 5oz of ground almonds, I'm sure it won't make that much difference overall, just taste a little more almondy. If you're worried it would, maybe reduce the flour qty by 1oz to compensate?
Had meant to take a photo of the pudding but forgot and then we mostly ravaged it. The remnants don't make a pretty sight.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. It was supposed to be lamb pilaff tonight, using up some of the Sunday roast however I collected a box of chestnut mushrooms from the community fridge yesterday which need using up quite quickly. I'm just turning those into a pan of mushroom stroganoff for tonight and we'll have the pilaff tomorrow.4
