Did a basic shop yesterday at Aldi, the price increases are really piling on now, am going to do a proper stock take of what we have and meal plan from that.
DD and her other half are in their first house a year October, she’s very worried about these increases, she’s a Nurse and he’s a heating engineer, so earning reasonable money. She’s coming round at the weekend for budgeting help and meal planning advice. I’ve directed her to MSE too.
Chicken thigh burgers and corn on the cob here tonight with some HM coleslawNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I've been noting down the increases in costs on a spreadsheet after every weekly food shop and it's just crazy when you see it there on the screen. Although Mister CJ is retired (lucky thing) his state pension has kicked in this month on top of his quite decent occupational one, so he is now feeling quite flush! I still have three years left to work, but have a good job and have been able to afford to scale back to only working four days a week, and if I save hard for the next 9 months I could theoretically afford to retire early if I wanted. We are very lucky (however I do seem to give an awful lot of money to my daughters to help them out every month
)
Tonight I am making a large beefaroni bake which will feed us tonight and again tomorrow.3 -
I have some sausages in the freezer which I will cook tonight for dinner. I will do some jacket potatoes and a jam sponge pudding while the oven is on.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Bratwurst from Lidl with potato salad, coleslaw and tomatoes. The rises are scary aren't they. We're relatively ok atm but even I'm scaling back where possible on the shopping. I dread to think what this is going to do to some people's health as some of the junk is the cheapest option (although perhaps not a bad thing the price of crisps has gone up so much), then factor in energy costs.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I filled my oven today when cooking dinner. I have cooked jacket potatoes to put in the fridge + a couple of sausages + a roasted onion + a greengage jam sponge pudding. There is some fat from cooking the sausages which will be used to make pastry.

I love sliced jacket potatoes on top of cottage pies, with cheese. I also think they make the best wedges.
Still suffering with the lurgy and avoiding other house hold members. Hubby fetched me a fillet of fish burger from McDonald's for lunch, with halloumi fingers and fries. A long time since I had one, but I ate it, in bed.
For dinner I had a corn on the cob and two actifry hash browns.
I think the family had seafood pasta.6 -
Super noodles (well Maggi ones which were purchased when Aldi had a shortage of their own noodles - anyone remember when Asda noodles were 5p...they were the days).
Will try and address diet today but yesterday it was a case of needing quick fuel.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
