We are having HM chicken curry (with whatever veg I get in my veg box), turmeric rice and naan bread.

Am also going to make a Chana Dahl from Meera Sodha’s ‘Made in India’ to go alongside - haven’t tried it before but if it’s nice, looks to be a cheap store cupboard meal for us going forward.

Some gorgeous and quite autumnal meals on here these past few days.

Not sure what I fancy tonight. Did have a bucket of chicken strips whilst out watching the football earlier but not eaten much else aside from that today. Feel i need to have something a bit healthier that of late but when I'm cooking I keep thinking about the cost to do so and it's somewhat making me not want to cook / eat like I normally would.

Had to go to Aldi today as we had run out of a few things for my daughter. I really fancied some burgers so we got some. We had it with chips and salad, mayonnaise on the side. I also fried off an onion. Hubby had his with a bun but I had a massive baguette at work so I had it “naked” as they say

  • I had two more of yesterday's chilli paneer kebabs with basmati rice, corn on the cob and grated carrot salad followed by coffee and a tangerine. I still have loads of the paneer left in the fridge and I think it might make another three meals so it's proving to be much better value than I originally thought.

I’ve just put a half leg of lamb in the slow cooker - it was an expensive piece of meat at £15, but I am hoping to get several meals-for-two out of it.

Tonight it will be a roast dinner with plenty of roasted veg (and maybe a Yorkshire pudding, which we like with roasts of all kinds). Tomorrow bits of the leftover lamb will go into a lamb pilaff which will feed us for two days, on Wednesday it will be flatbreads topped with hummus, a sprinkling of shredded lamb and thinly sliced red onions, and I am hoping there will be enough bits left over to make into a little shepherd’s pie for Thursday. It’s Lamb Week in the CJ household! 😂
