    @Briesonnenblumen = sunflower.

    That bread, meat and cheese grazing meal sounds absolutely delicious. I could live on that sort of thing.

    Yeah I know that bit.  It's the pumpkin seeds I couldn't think of.   Google tells me kürbiskerne.  Of course the packet doesn't say that as it's in Polish.  And my Polish is worse than my German!!

  • I made a Pork Burger with Rosemary Potato Wedges & Salad. For the pork mince I used Lidl Deluxe Caramelized Onion Pork sausages, cut off the skins and gave a bit of S&P for seasoning while shaping them into burgers. Topped that with a Parmesan crisp made with some leftover hard Italian cheese from an old Hello Fresh recipe. Really easy, tasty and no smokey barbequing!

    I had a go at making these Summer Rolls from Nigella's website, the results were very tasty but not particularly photogenic! Now I have the knack with the pancake wrapper thingy's I might try again another day and add some pickled ginger to the filling too.

    I made an orange, tomato and lettuce salad with oil and vinegar dressing and had that with tofu, cold potatoes and some hm hummus, DH had Quorn sausages instead of tofu. Afterwards we had tinned pineapple and mandarin segments with sliced banana, all cold from the fridge, very refreshing in the hot weather.
    For the hummus I blitzed a whole tin of chickpeas, juice of one lemon, salt and pepper and two teaspoons of toasted sesame oil, don't know if the oil is cheaper than tahini or not but it keeps well.

    In yet more of my efforts to use up, I made a few things and put them in the garage fridge to be eaten over the next couple of days as well as today.
    I had cooked a chicken yesterday so that was stripped and in a dish.
    As well as mash with spring onions , tuna pasta salad, chopped salad, quiche, roasted veg slice, beetroot, boiled eggs, bread.
    Theres other bowls with prepared fruit, so hoping most of this is gone by Tuesday night.

    I have a 1kg of beef mince sitting on the counter here, waiting to go in the 6l slow cooker. In addition, will be added, however much of the remaining onions haven't gone mouldy,  carrots, swede, lentils & at this point I will gauge how much room is left in the pot and add potatoes and beans if they will fit. (everything is sliced in the food processor to pack better) Then herbs and or spices that I fancy, and possibly two tins of cheapy chopped tomatoes (+stock)
     My aim is to get the basis for 16 adult meals out of this concoction, and I will add things like extra fresh veg, or tortillas, or pastry, or home made potato cakes to each meal to bulk it out.
    4 meals today, 4 meals tomorrow and 8 to go in the freezer.
    My concern about the lentils is that my son will pick out individual grains from a stew if he can see them so I want them to disappear, and I'm a bit fed up that the own brand tomato puree was out of stock at the supermarket I use.
    Target £80 per week groceries, household and cleaning for four adults.

    OH has a lot on his mind so has forgotten it's our anniversary.  I didn't mention it but gave him a present I'd bought this morning.  No comment from him as to why I was giving him a present (not something I do more than a couple of obvious times in the year).

    So I've gone out and got some prosecco which is chilling.  And Tesco has provided prawn toasts, spring rolls, ribs, noodles, duck breasts and a variety of vegetables that I will be cooking up in a bit.

    My plan (cunning or otherwise) is to stir fry the veg (spring onions, pepper, courgette, mushrooms), add some black bean sauce and then the noodles.  Meanwhile the duck will just be coated in soy sauce and roasted and then added on top of the veg and noodles.   HAPPY TO HEAR IF THAT MIGHT WORK OR IF SOMEONE HAS A BETTER IDEA!!  PLEASE!!!

    re anniversary .....he loves prawn toast.  I love duck.
