@Brie - that sounds delicious!It’s our anniversary on 30th (same day as @Islandmaid, I sometimes worry we might accidentally be married to the same man) but Mister CJ and I seldom remember it until sometime in early September each year, when some random occurrence will trigger a conversation about “did we miss ….”, “was it ….”, “I’m sure it was somebody’s birthday last week” and “ohhhh! we missed it AGAIN!”
I hope his failure to acknowledge it hasn’t upset you. Perhaps he feels that it is not a stand-out date because every day is lovely with you 😀🥂❤️😀3 -

He has very good cause to be forgetful unfortunately. His mom who has lived with us for the last few years until recently has been moved from hospital into a care home and is seriously not doing well. Doctor has agreed that she is just to be supported until she gives up which was a bit of a blow to him (only child and so, momma's boy). Not a surprise at 96 but still a surprise if you know what I mean.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. And when I told him chinese for dinner he grumbled a bit and said "so lots of washing up" (forgetting as always that I clean up as I go, unlike someone who will remain nameless). I assured him that "no there will not be lots of washing up.....at least not for me!" grumble grumble he goes.....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Brie send you both hugs, it’s hard, my MIL is 91 this year, living independently with the help of carers, and is getting considerably worse with memory, on Saturday we discussed the same 2 topics in a circle for over an hour. She is convinced her cat is stuck in the loft - the cat died over 20 year’s ago. It’s heartbreaking to see. DH is her baby boy too, the youngest of 4 with 13 years between him and the next eldest.
the anniversary meal sounds just right, and if the penny doesn’t drop, chuck an egg roll at his head 🤣🤣 congratulations BTW, you get less for murder 😝Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Dinner turned out quite nice last night. (w leftovers for lunch today) OH still hadn't clocked the date despite me suggesting prosecco for a pre dinner sip. Eventually told him during dinner and he was very apologetic but I agreed that he had a lot on his mind.
Simply tonight there are some small pizzas in the freezer he got from somewhere (prob Lidl) and shockingly he has suggested having salad with them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I have no idea what we'll have tonight. There is leftover mushroom, leek and cheese crustless flan which I made the other day and plenty of salad options. I think the flan is lovely, all soft and oozy and meltingly cheesy, but Mister CJ didn't really enjoy it and is turning his nose up. I shall have the flan and salad, and to punish him (!) I have taken an unlabelled unidentifiable thing out of the freezer and he can have that. It may be curry, but it could be anything really2

@C_J 🤣
Dunno about tonight’s dinner, I’m not overly hungry, might suggest we just grab what we fancy from the fridge, plenty of options from omelettes, salads, ohh there some bolognaise sauce in the freezer too if anyone can be bothered to boil pasta - it’s been a long, busy day and my brain has turned to mush again 🙃

Pork chops need to be used or frozen. I'd be pan frying with a few sliced mushrooms finished with some vermouth and cream. Served with croquette potatoes with courgette on the side. But OH may decide on something completely different.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Brie belated happy anniversary to you both. It was lovely that you made the effort for OH and I'm sure he appreciated it even more that you did it without fuss.
We have been away for a few days (nearly a week) north of the border. First time in 20+ yrs I've come back from a visit 'ooop north' with a sun tan! It was still hot up there but not as stifling as it has been down here.
Consequently lots of eating out and I prob should have my jaw wired til xmas. Tonight we popped out for dinner as it was the last day to use some CC vouchers I'd exchanged a year ago 🙈 I had a pie and swapped out my roast potatoes for mash, except somehow they also swapped out OH chips for mash too....he wasn't overly impressed with burger and mash.
Still, time to pull in the purse strings and belt now so back to cooking tomorrow.
We did bring some rolls back with us though...crispy morning for me, well fired for OH. Love them and they're just not the same down here. Not even Lidl's who's are the closest I've found.
Need to have a go at making some again, last time i tried, we ended up with mini pizza bases 🤣Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
