    Supposedly it's pasta tonight but OH claims he has to go out to get some sauce of some sort.  Now that's fine by me.  Something tomatoey or pesto.  But I swear we've got the makings here and would like to tidy up some of the freezer to make room for the 10 gallons of apple sauce I'm about to make.  (well, not really that much but I've got a big shopping bag full of free bramleys to do something to) (yes there will be dorset apple cake)

    Last night OH did a marvel with the huge venison chops, a pack of ready made polenta and some frozen wild mushrooms (available at all good Polish supermarkets, and very cheap too)

    Ooohh, I love Dorset apple cake 😀

    We have some of the champ left over from last night, so we’ll finish that up tonight with some sausages and fried tomatoes.

    I am trying to use less energy - cooked jacket potatoes and stored them in the fridge. Tonight we are having chicken drumsticks - FF + sliced jacket potato fried off with free Vine tomatoes + an egg.

    Turns out it's pie for dinner.  OH has steak and I've got a chicken an asparagus.  And of course some apple cake.

    I suggested husband took his dad out for lunch and he ended up with an all day breakfast, so he wasnt hungry at dinner time. He had a tin of soup.
    Daughter and I had salmon baked on courgette, onion, peppers and some roasted tomatoes. With some new potatoes that were expensive but disappointing in flavour.

    I really do need to use up the food in the freezers, instead of adding to it. Everytime theres a space, I seem to fill it. Unfortunately my favourite bakery has just ceased trading. I regularly picked up focaccia and sourdough, and froze in slices. So will savour these as I use them up.

    ETA. That cake looks delicious, we used to do I think a Normandy apple cake, the apples and raisins were soaked in Brandy, then mixed with almonds. These were then layered in the middle of what seemed to be a crumble made into a stiff dough with eggs.  Absolutely delicious. But I cant find the recipe.

    @Brie that cake looks delicious

    Last night was some more fake KFC (aka Unlucky Fried Kitten when we were teenagers) , with some roast spuds, carrots and broccoli all from the freezer.

    Tonight was pasta with the other half of the fruits de mer that @Islandmaid put me on to years ago (i let it ever so slightly soften from the freezer then chop in half with a bread knife and put it back as it's not something OH would eat)

    @JIL I'm like you, every time i clear space in the freezer i fill it, so only end up using about 30% of whats in there because the rest is buried.

    I also discovered Aldi Metro rolls / subs today. Basically a knock off Subway roll (not that i eat Subway virtually at all) so i bought a cheese and herb pack (the Italian ones were oos) to see what the fuss was about. Deff winner.
