We’re off to Coventry for the day, for various activities including a visit to the Midlands Air Museum and a two hour Warbirds Second World War dogfights-over-the-channel flight simulation in a converted Mustang cockpit (part of Mr CJ’s birthday present). The day includes lunch at a nice pub near the airfield, so I am guessing we won’t want anything much to eat tonight. I have the makings of refried bean, chilli and cheese tostadas if we get peckish later.3

think it's bread and cheese this evening. might need to buy some tomatoes as the garden isn't producing very much (but is 800 times better than previous years)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I had some bargain ready meal curries in the freezer, that I had collected over time, so got them out and we had them. A reminder as to why I cook from scratch, if ever it was needed.
I think I enjoyed my lunch of a cheese and tomato roll and a packet of wheat crunchies much more.4 -

Sweet chilli and garlic stir fry for us tonight, veg from freezer (Lidl Asian veg and a chopped yellow pepper I'd chucked in a bag in there).
Still working my way through all the mystery bags, found some sliced aubergine yesterday, that can go in the lasagne tomorrowFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I’m making a stir fry tonight - beef cut into thin strips and marinated beforehand with bicarb to make it super tender, then chucked in the wok with onions, garlic, green peppers, pak choi, tenderstem broccoli, water chestnut slices and oyster sauce.4

Last night OH did some lovely tbone steaks (Lidl) on the bbq. J potatoes and sour cream. Red wine. A bit of the steak is left over and will do for my lunch shortly....
Tonight may be pork tenderloin with mushrooms. There's cream that might have been used to make a sauce but I think it was bbf 25th so it may be well off by now. Or I might use it for baking.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Last night we had some manky old sea bass fillets that were the last of the Really Old Freezer Stock. I liberally covered them in oriental seasoning and nobody was any the wiser.
I went through a phase of getting Simply Cook recipe boxes and got a load of free boxes from referrals. This month I've been trying to work my way through them but using whatever meat and veg I had to hand if possible rather than buying special ingredients. I've managed to use 8 of 16, actually threw one away that I didn't want to eat. So now I'm down to the ones we don't mind eating and hopefully by the end of next month they will all be gone. Tonight I did chicken makhani and rice, another recipe box2 -
Hello all
wow I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of august! I’ve been working all the hours I can. It’s high season so needs must. Things start to drop off next month and I’ll start getting my second day off within the next 2 weeks
I want to get back to contributing to this thread again, I found it very helpful. Currently trying to empty the freezer and cupboards as best I can. Tonight was a real freezer meal. Pizza, chicken nuggets, onion rings. I had a big potato to use for some chips and a small amount of salad and tomatoes for hubby and I, daughter requested peas.:money::rotfl::T3
