Mister CJ and I are going round to eldest daughter’s house tonight, to babysit the three- and five-year old energiser bunny grandchildren who never do anything at less than 100mph. Wish us well

Not wanting to cook, I fancied a Chinese takeaway as a treat but my sensible MSE head then decided on one of those boxed meals from Tesco which are on offer at £6. We haven’t had one before, and now I’m worried it might be a bit eurgh.  :D

The Tesco ones benefit from having things cook at the same temperature - unlike the M&S ones.  Chinese are fine, not homemade but well worth £6.  We get the Indian dinners too - like with getting the Chinese from Ts instead of a take away it really limits us getting vast quantities.  Our Chinese take aways are as far as possible from MSE as is possible while being in the same solar system.

We had curry. I have far too much food in the house, so used what I had in.
I made a biriani following a recipe on the uncle Ben's website, that used up bits of veg and rice sachets. It turned out ok. I also used a pataks tikka masala stock pot thing, that had been there for ages.

I made a chicken curry, using up frozen chicken, frozen spinach and some squashy tomatoes. Plus a dahl with lentils and tinned chickpeas.

More using up the rest of the week. My weekly shopping cost £12.90 for fresh veg and salad in the hope that I can use stuff up.

I got some chilli out the freezer whilst i was making a mushroom, chicken, grape (yes grapes) concoction thingy to use up some sour cream. Figured I'd have some of the sour cream in my chilli too....it turned out to be bolognese 🙈 quick cook of some small pasta shells (because they cook quickly) and i had a dinner of pasta bog and used up some LO grated mozarelle from the freezer too.

OH did the mozzarella and tomatoes with basil last night.  He'd bought a new jug (2 litres?) of olive oil that had a very strong peppery flavour.  Not unpleasant by any means but almost spicy.  Cue coughing fit!!  Big chunks of bread were available to sop up all the oil and tomato juice!

So that means tonight should be the pork roast.  But it's pretty hot so it may be tuna sandwiches instead.  I shall wait until the grumbling starts and then will find out!!!

Lovely pic @Islandmaid , it must be lovely to be so close to the beach in weather like this.

Bbq here too, round at a friends. I had a flash cook beef steak, beef and halloumi kebab and a Bockwurst with salad and some nibbly bits. Oh and Halloumi fries because there is no such thing as too much cheese.

Back home now, how is it possible to do nothing and still feel shattered 🤔
