And apparently there's going to be a change in dinners in the future.  OH has declared a need to lose weight!  (wonder what the clue was.....)  So he wants to go for meals that are either protein and salad or completely portioned controlled - aka ready meals.  The first I like, the second I don't as I think it hides a multitude of sins but if it will work for him then fine.

@Brie - I like the idea of a Bride's Surprise, what a wicked game to play. I wonder how many unlabelled tins I could guess just from the shape of them (I mean, corned beef is not the same shape as tinned peaches) or from the noise when shaken (tinned fruit probably sloppier than rice pudding)?

Mister CJ sometimes suddenly announces he wants to shed a few pounds, and declares the portions I serve up are too large. So I reduce them. And I cut out carbs. I feed him lots of expensive protein, and he is happy. But then later in the evening he gets hungry again and secretly raids the biscuit tin, so it's all very counterproductive  :D

I disinterred a container of ricotta which was lurking at the back of the fridge and added some preserved lemons and fresh parsley chopped small and then dolloped it onto cucumber slices, lettuce leaves and crackers along with a couple of treat ready made salads from M*rks. Now enjoying a coffee to fill up the cracks.

I think we'll be having salad again this evening.  We still have lots of lettuce, a good number of tomatoes (only 2 from the garden so far), ham, chicken, mozzarella.  I expect tomorrow someone (and me) will be hankering to have a hot meal.  He can buy himself a ready meal if he likes and I've got things from the freezer that will go along with them nicely.

Tonight I’m making Jerk spiced fried minced pork with pineapple, and coconut rice. Some fresh peaches need using up, so we’ll have those for pud.

We're on a mission to clear the freezer so it's wiener schnitzel (Lidl) and the rest of the new potatoes.  OH prefers the tinned ones while I like the fresh ones.  I trumped him by saying the tinned ones will last but the fresh ones need to be used up.  Might be a bit of salad left to have with or maybe I'll roast some veg as that's also in the freezer.
