@Brie I use tinned spuds for Spanish Tortilla 🤩 might make one at the weekend, as I feel Tapas coming on, we have Octopus and some truly HUGE prawns 🦐

Tonight will be the steak I didn’t end up having last night. Need ballast, We’re out with friends tonight for Cowes Week, likely to be one or 3 glasses of sherry involved 🙃

We had spicy bean burger, potato wedges, cauliflower, peas and herby chopped tomatoes, then with coffee DH had two slices of his favourite shop-bought madeira cake and I had a couple of bourbon biscuits.
Later on we had three squares each of Aldi mint creme filled dark chocolate, not exactly healthy but so yummy.

Had a lovely night out, didn’t drink too much, so no fuzzy head this morning, we did however end up in our favourite tandoori restaurant for a spot of supper 🤣

Tonight is HM bread, garlic tiger prawns, aioli and some local made sausages for those seafood adverse, salads etc on the side

@Islandmaid please could I pick your brain for suggestions for places we could eat out during our next trip over? You often mention that you’ve been out for dinner to nice places (I’ve already made a note to try the Taverners). We’ll be staying in Bembridge but happy to travel all over the island for nice food. Could you give me some recommendations? Thank you!

@C_J The Birdham Hotel in Bembridge does very good food, in Ryde there is Pickle and Dill (tapas, deli boards 🤩) and Cadet Beach Club if you enjoy seafood.  The Coast and Smoking a lobster in cowes are great, and if you fancy splashing out The North House is wonderful. Yarmouth has Salty’s and The George, but the pubs there are good too.  The Hut and The Waterside are Freshwater way. Further along the military road you have The White Mouse which is a nice pub and as you say The Taveners, The Culver Haven, and The Yar Bridge are good pubs too - you must go to the Garlic farm restaurant, great breakfasts and lunches. That should start you off 🤣

Thank you so much! I’m familiar with some of those already, but thank you for the additional suggestions. Will definitely check them out.

Love a bit of local knowledge, can’t beat it  :)

I looked at the possibility of having a break on IoW but was shocked by the prices to get there.  Seemed to be just slightly cheaper than the chunnel!!  Obviously less disruption due to border control but still!!!

I had a picky fridge bits eat it up meal with some crackers and elderly blue cheese to chase it down.

@Brie the ferries are ridiculously expensive, not much cheaper for us to travel to the North island either 🤷‍♀️ You can get some good deals to come here though, especially if you book accommodation too.

Following @goldfinches lead tonight, cheese, crackers and LO prawns, salad etc and some weekend wine 😋

We ended up with M&S pizza last night despite OH saying it's not good for us.  (yes maybe he was right for once but tell him I said so)

Tonight we have fish and chips (also M&S so smallish portions by some standards).  I'll do a bit of salad to go with mine and try not to eat all my chips.

Tomorrow there's a pork loin roast from our meat guy.  The M&S F&C was part of a special so there's a tray of buttered carrots to go with and roasties in the freezer I'd like to get used up.  (not really a roastie person myself).  And presumably if the pork doesn't get completely inhaled tomorrow there will be sandwiches to tidy up on Sunday.

All of which begs the question - why do I have such a long shopping list if we have all the food we need here already??
