I’m making burger’s today, prefer to make my own so I know what’s in them. I’ll have mine in lettuce wraps, making rolls for them. Our tomatoes in the garden have gone mad, the cherry ones I coated in olive oil, garlic, thyme and seasoned, spread out on a baking sheet then placed into a hot oven, switched it off and left them overnight, lovely semi dried tomatoes ready for nibbles later 👍Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Salmon was just barely starting to thaw last evening when we had an emergency. So back it went into the freezer, leaving just the one most wiggly at the ends out for my breakfast this morning.
Instead I popped some baguettes in the oven and we had sandwiches. Now I now that OH likes salmon and cucumber so I prepped a bowl of salmon with mayo ready to pop in the baguettes and sliced the cuke. And he then announced he'd prefer tuna (yes yes I know but the emergency was about his mom so I was being extra indulgent). Net result is that we've got a bowl of tinned salmon and mayo left over in the fridge. CAN THIS BE FROZEN?? And be edible once thawed? yes I could have some on crackers later or tomorrow instead but not sure at this point I want to.
Not sure what this evening holds for us given the emergency is yet to be resolved. Might be pizzas, might be omelets, might be salmon mayo sandwiches.....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Tonight we had veg sausages, mash, marrowfat peas and courgette batons simmered with sliced sun-dried tomatoes, salt and pepper. Hm fruit cake and coffee after.
Simple meal again, can't be bothered after painting doors the last four afternoons.

Last night the OH did lamb shoulder slow cooked in red wine with onions and green olives. Served with new potatoes. A couple of left over potatoes were fried up this morning with a full British for OH and fried tomatoes on sour dough toast for me.
Tonight we'll be buy watching football so it's Aldi's KFC style chicken & corn on the cob. Got to check if there's chips for him and I'll be having mostly salad.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Back from our Cornish holibobs with the whole family (three grandchildren under 5, it was bedlam but such fun!) and I am now making a concerted effort to clear at least one freezer drawer. This means we may be eating strange food combinations for the next week or so, but I have realised I am just using the big freezer as a giant storage unit, never taking anything out of it and that is Not Very MoneySaving.
I've taken out a vegetable and coconut curry for tonight, and am defrosting some minced beef and fresh pasta sheets to make a lasagne for tomorrow. I have also taken out lots of frozen raspberries to add to a pavlova for this week's puds.
There are several anonymous, unidentifiable Things in foil trays*. We may have a Lucky Dip Day later in the week!
*Why do I persist in doing this? Why on earth do I think I can remember what I put in the freezer several months ago when I can scarcely remember what I was doing yesterday? Answers on a postcard please.3 -
🤣🤣 @C_J most of us have probably been there with the UFO’s (unidentified frozen objects)
glad you had a fab break, now time for a rest. 😉 as the part owner of a busy 3 yo in residence whom we love to bits, sometimes the cry of ‘Grandma, come play with me’ I could quiet happy ignore 🥴🤣Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

@C_J I remember reading about a custom in the US of "bride's surprise". It's where the local women would help stock the newly weds kitchen cupboards but would remove all the labels from the tins. So the young bride (as only women ever cooked of course!!!) would be faced with an array of tins all the same size and shape and try to guess before opening them what they might contain. Tinned corn? Or tinned peaches? Soup? Or custard?? Thankfully it's not something I was ever subjected to.
