Hi RT! Yep, it's very Not Good ... I feel like all I can do is play by their rules (while seething at every turn, sadly) and the moment I'm out from under the debt, cancel them like they've never been cancelled before. It's definitely taught me about shutting down unused accounts as quickly as possible these days - once this one is sorted, I'll check everything else.

I was going to suggest you email the Sainsbury's CEO as I believe they own their own banking service. simon.roberts@sainsburys.co.uk if you want to try - you are likely to get a holding reply from the executive office by the looks of twitter. Maybe write down all the contacts you have had ready to take to the Banking ombudsman as complaint, or else write to one of the finance agony aunts at the newspapersSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

What an absolute fiasco! 😮😮 So sorry you're having to deal with this. An official complaint is definitely in order when you feel up to it.
Hope today is a calm one!3 -
Hope you are managing to sleep well x

Thank you lovely people: your support is much appreciated. Even a small compensation offer after this would be a good thing - and I'm sure the Ombudsman etc would find in my favour, but honestly, with my limited physical/emotional energy, I don't want to focus on it. I want the fraud understood as such by officialdom and wiped from my slate, and I want to be able to close down my account with them - actually, I stand corrected, if they reject the original Council Tax bill from earlier this year, I'll make a complaint, right now.
I was in bed by 10.35 last night, read for a bit, and slept pretty well - I had a walk booked with my sister this morning, and decided to go ahead - it was only local, we didn't even drive to the local NT place, at my request. I wanted to be upright, and to get some fresh air, and talk about the baby that's being induced for medical reasons tomorrow - very exciting!
Today ... glad to have had a walk and a chat, and I'm doing absolutely nothing except load the dishwasher. I know I don't have to talk to Sainsbo today, so I'm happy2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
Glad you're having a Sainsbo free day today. I'm totally at a loss for words over how badly the fraud has been dealt with - it's always been my experience that cc companies deal very well with it, so I definitely wouldn't go to Sainsbo after your experience!
Walk sounds lovely, and hope all goes well with the baby! My cousin had a baby girl this morning - such lovely newsMortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
