What actually happened was someone typed in the VRN wrongly. Did you realise?

No I did not realise. The photos were of the car on the charge on their site.

ANPR pics of your car of course showing the VNR
and they got your details from DVLA.

HOWEVER if the wrong VNR was entered in the machine
    IE a "0" instead of a "O, the machine registered a number
and duly accepted the money to which they have no record
of the car entering or exiting on an incorrect number.

This is just an addon to which, you can call upon Britannia
to show their records for that day.

But, as coupon-mad has said, once they see a MSE
forum appeal, chances are high they will cancel.
Trust coupon-mad, she gets tickets cancelled

It will be about a typo in the VRN, definitely.

Does your VRN include a 0 or 1 that might have been typed as the letter 'O' or 'I'?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The VRN does include an O.

I have just now sent the appeal off using the blue template and simply filling in the PCN and adding nothing as advised.

I took a screenshot of the acknowledgement however I have received an auto email acknowledgement too.

Thank you for your help. They say a response will be sent to me within 35 days, but to email them if I have not heard by then, to check the status of the appeal.

    Good morning,

I have received an email reply stating that they are carrying this on. They tell me their notices are within all the legal requirements and pass the various stipulations set out by law. They have given the 14 days at reduced rate again. Would you please be kind enough to advise me as to how to proceed. I can paste the email here without personal data or answer any questions.

    Many thanks

Wait patiently for them to reject your appeal and supply a PoPLA code.

When you get that it will be time for you to read post #3 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread and compile a PoPLA appeal.

    Thank you for your reply.

As far as I can see this is their rejection. They state they have reached the end of their internal appeals procedure. I have not said a single thing to them apart from the template I sent from this forum. They state we did not buy a ticket and a photo of our car in their car park shown. Of course the person driving did buy a ticket.

The driver has also gone back to the carpark to photograph the notice on their machines stating we did not need to display the ticket.

Is it time then for me to compile a PoPLA appeal?

    Study that rejection letter carefully.
Is there a PoPLA verification code specified?

What is the date of that rejection letter?

you can start the process by looking at forum popla appeals that you will crib from .... take your time reading through a few (only recent one's .. less than 6 months) .....

while you await your popla code ...

    good luck

Hello and thank you for your replies. I know this is not your concern but I am having trouble understanding things right now as i'm suffering from acute vertigo and trying hard to deal with this in the time allowed.

Yes the PoPla code is given.

The date of the letter is 24th Jan 2018.

The first letter we got was addressed to the keeper of the vehicle and stated Final Reminder.

They say all signage in this car park (which is a new one underground a college) has signage approved by the BPA who has approved it to be adequae... they say they are audited yearly to ensure it is maintained and updated in line with BPA requirements.... no ambiguous wording has been used and a contact phone number for further clarification on the terms and conditions given.

They also say they have notified us under para 9(2)(b) of schedule 4 of the PoFA 2012 and that the driver of the motor vehicle is required to pay in full.

I have looked through but will continue to look further for something that falls in line with all of this but thus far can find nothing.

If after reading all of this you think I still have a chance fighting this please tell me and I will continue to look... if you think they have covered all angles please tell me now to save me any more anguish and to save me from bothering you further.

    Kind Regards
