Britannia Parking Final Reminder

Hello,
We received a Final Reminder from Britannia Parking today. This ticket relates to Saturday 2nd December when the driver parked our car in a college carpark ran by them. The driver put in the correct money for the time we spent there having to put in our car reg details. Signs on the wall state "You do not have to display your ticket" The driver collected our car within the time specified and there was no letter/ticket on our dashboard. We never received anything prior to this Final Demand which states we are now past the discounted period and they are asking for us to pay them £160. They are threatening us with passing this to a Debt Recovery Agent and telling us to go online to pay them which will incur a further £1.50 for fees. We are simply not liable for anything here and would appreciate any help you could give us.
With thanks

On the letter you received, what did it say what was the offence ?
Do you still have the ticket from the machine ?
Forget about the stupid Britannia threat about
Debt Collectors because debt collectors in the
parking industry can do ZERO, they are just idiotic
timewasters
Don't pay this, you are being scammed0 -
It is difficult to know what the offence is supposed to be. It reads as follows:-
PARKING CHARGE NOTICE - FINAL REMINDER
name and address on left..... Parking Charge number, Date of notice, Date of contravention, Vehicle Registration and Location on the right.
Large FINAL REMINDER in white huge print on black background with slightly smaller print underneath saying "DO NOT IGNORE THIS NOTICE THE DISCOUNTED PERIOD HAS NOW EXPIRED.
In another box underneath in normal size print it tells us that if we ignore it they will pass to a Debt Recovery Agent which may escalate to court proceedings to recover the amount owed (we have no idea what the amount is) Then it says This overdue Parking Charge Notice will incease to £160 in the first instance of further action. To avoid further unnecessary costs or actions please pay the Parking Charge within the aforementioned time period. (We have no idea what that is either)
Underneath that is Payment Information.
So we have no idea what the offence is. We have no idea what the charge is. They give an internet address and a charge number and tell us to go there so I guess the information will be there. They also supply a phone number and postal details and tell us not to pay if we wish to appeal.
driver no longer has the ticket I'm afraid.
Thank you very much for your replies... this has shaken us up a bit.0 -

Obviously do not pay.0 -
Well that's just it.... when logging into the site with the address they give I get 2 options. Pay or Appeal. If I click to Pay I go straight to a page that is asking me to put in the charge number, vehicle registration and Visa Signs are on the left of this. Should I go that far into the process? To click Appeal I thought I ought to be sure of what I was doing first. Should I click to Pay and put in the charge number and Vehicle Reg without even knowing what I'm supposedly paying for?0

Don't be shaken up you are being scammed and this forum
zaps scammers
The increase to £160 is a £60 addon that a debt collector
tries to scam you with. I suspect the debt collector is
the crazy DRP who plain and simply are down and outs
Forget them, POWERLESS and can do nothing.
This sounds like ANPR where your number plate is
recorded when you enter and leave, hence no ticket
on the car. Notification is posted to you
Before the letter you should have received a NtK
(notice to keeper) which gives you a time period to
pay with a discount and the opportunity to appeal ...
did you receive that ?
Does the sign really say that you do not have
to display a ticket ?
If so, you need to take a picture of it0 -
Why on earth are you trying to pay ???????0

I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Not trying to pay, trying to determine exactly what the charge is purportedly for. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
