Morning, thanks for the links Alfie. We have had fireworks going off for the past few days. Charlie boy is ok, but just needs a few cuddles, or extra ones should i say.lol. Weather is dull here at the moment, but it's dry and not cold so may get some washing out later. Son is ok, but appointment isn't till late afternoon so will see what Dr has to say.Hope you all have a lucky week.0

Morning, wet and dark here today.Been raining since 4 and still looks like more to follow.Took DS to Drs and she gave him self refferal forms. He has booked 21st of Nov to see someone at hospital so all being well and they don't change the day we can be sorting this out. He also got a sick note for 4 weeks so got that sorted. On another note dog has hurt his front paw, don't know how but he is such a mad one running and jumping all over place, he was holding it up last night and i checked it all over but can't find anything wrong so will keep an eye on him for a couple of days to see how he is walking, before i take him to vets. Not a good start to November but things can only get better,i hope.lol
Hope you all have a lucky day.0 -
:hello: Good morning everyone
Hope you're all ok.It's been so mild these past few days,
I enjoyed a good couple of hours out gardening yesterday,
even managed to give the lawns a light cut. Will be out
there again today before the predicted wet n' windy weather
arrives!
You're most welcome fire**fly. :A It makes such good sense,
still being able to enjoy the fireworks, minus the harmful noise
& after-effects. :T
The noise levels here yesterday evening were a nightmare - a
couple of times I nearly jumped out of my skin! Why on
earth do some people enjoy the loudest of fireworks? I don't
understand it at all.

Just this minute seen your post indie - do hope your son gets
on ok at the hosp appt & pleased to hear that he's got a sick
note to cover him over the next four weeks. So sorry to hear
about Charlie too with his poorly paw! Hope he's back to
his usual bouncy happy self soon. Got fingers n' paws crossed

Morning here just dull. Indie so pleased to hear your son has time off and has an appointment at hospital. 21st seems awhile away but as hospital appointments go that’s soon.
I feel very upset this morning as just heard from DD2 and she has a bad flare up of her arthritis. She can’t lift her left arm up very far. That’s how it started when she was 14. She had Chronic Jouvenile arthritis the systemic type. It affects her feet and hands. For most children with this condition it clears within a year but after the year the consultant said it wouldn’t go.
She has some pain most of the time but adjusts her life to it. She said three year old helped her to dress this morning. She works four days a week at the moment. Wish we lived nearer.
Alfie thanks for links. Agree with you and FireFly re fireworks. DD1 had to stay late at work yesterday and we picked GS up from childminder. I don’t know how many times I jumped a mile from loud bangs. When we got to their house GS looked out of front door once and then shut it firmly. I’m alll for banning them and only having organised displays.
Sheils do hope you have a great trip. Been looking up some pictures of autumn in Scotland I expect there is some lovely scenery around where you are.
Take care everyone and good luck with comps, especially Alfie.0 -
Afternoon All!
Still catching up as had a busy weekend looking after sick DH & DD (colds), and blitzing the house after I was ill and all the housework had piled up. Systems are down at work, so I can't do anything. I can just about get on wifi to look at this site, but can't access the remote server. Ho hum, I'll just have to enter competitions then! lol
Yep, fireworks are pretty but I hate the noise. DD is petrified of anything loud (even the hoover), so we still don't take her to any displays as she wouldn't cope even with ear defenders. Maybe next year. Wish they would limit the days you could have them, and the time. It's winter and dark for goodness sake, no need to do them later than 7pm!!
Indie glad there has been progress for your son.
Leanfun, so sorry to hear about your daughter. That sounds very painful and difficult to manage. I hope she gets some relief.
Have fun on your trip Shiels!
Good luck everyone! xxFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
:hello: Good morning everyone
I hope you're all ok on this mixed weather Wednesday.
Me thinks we're due a bit of everything down my way today ..
wind, sunshine, showers etc etc! Still lovely & mild though!
Managed to get a fair bit done in the garden yesterday. :j
Although I'm guessing (due to weather), that today MAY be
the day that I finally get round to doing humdrum life stuff ..
filing, ironing, etc etc. Yawn! Zzzzzzz
leanfun, so sorry to hear that your DD2 has had another bad
flare up of arthritis. My heart really goes out to her being in
so much pain. :A Sending gentle (((hugs))) to your daughter
& big (((hugs))) to you. xxx
Sounds as if you were mega busy over the weekend Euronorris!
Hope DH & DD are feeling a little better now. I def. agree with
you re fireworks, both with limiting the days & also the times!
It was lovely & peaceful here yesterday evening, thankfully
no noisy fireworks ..... bliss!
Well, off out to get provisions today so best get my skates on.
It's brightened up now & sun is shining - looks nice out at the
mo.
Have a lovely and lucky Wednesday all & please take care
whatever your plans.

Thanks Alfie and Euronorris.
Alfie have a good shopping trip. We went to Lidl’s late yesterday afternoon and it was great hardly anyone in shop.
Euronorris hope family are all well now. Here DS came home for a few does and started a horrible cold so hoping DH and I don’t catch it.
Yesterday DH had a WEM to say he’s win a CD from the Music News. This site rejects my email so he’s been entering their comps.
Well here I keep pressing on to catch up with washing and ironing.
Good luck everyone.0 -
Afternoon, not long home from work as did a morning shift. Well done on your DH winning the CD leanfun.Hope your DD2 is feeling a bit better today, it's horrible when you have a flare up.
Euronorris hope your DH & DD are feeling a little better now there is so many colds around at the moment. It's been raining here since early hours and still going so no gardening for me. Glad you got some gardening done yeterday Alfie, the forecast is rain for the next few days.
I had to take Charlie boy to vets last night as his foot swelled up, so off we went and were given anti-biotics and pain relief. She thinks he had something pierce down the side of his nail on his front paw. So he has the cone of shame on again. He was restless night night but is his normal self today. I have to take him back on monday. ( i told her i was going to put booties on him,lol).0 -
:hello: Good morning everyone
Yesterday was definitely a mix of sunshine, heavy showers
and very windy! I happily caught up with comping during the
day & even managed a swift hoovering session in the evening!
Couldn't face the huge pile of filing though _pale_ - may tackle
that today.
Very well done to your DH leanfun for CD win! :T :j
Oh no - cone of shame again indie.Poor Charlie boy with
poorly paw! Ouch! Hopefully after vet appointment Monday he'll
be cone free. Lol at booties! :rotfl:
Did anyone watch the adorable baby bear video that went viral
recently? Not such good news though ... poor bears! _pale_

The Problem Behind a Viral Video of a Persistent Baby Bear
What appears to be a life-affirming triumph is really a cautionary
tale about drones and wildlife.
The video was uploaded to the ViralHog YouTube channel on
Friday, and after being shared on Twitter, it rapidly went viral. At
the time of this writing, it has been watched 17 million times. The
cub’s exploits were equal parts gif, nature documentary, and
motivational poster. It had all the elements of an incredible story:
the most adorable of protagonists, rising and falling action
(literally), and a happy ending. It was a tale of tenacity in the face
of adversity, triumph against the odds.
But when biologists started watching the video, they saw a very
different story.
The video, they say, was clearly captured by a drone. And in it,
they saw the work of an irresponsible drone operator who, in
trying to film the bears, drove them into a dangerous situation
that almost cost the cub its life. “I found it really hard to watch,”
says Sophie Gilbert, an ecologist at the University of Idaho who
studies, among other things, how drones affect wildlife. “It showed
a pretty stark lack of understanding from the drone operator of the
effects that his actions were having on the bears.” (It wasn’t just
scientists, either; several drone pilots were also dismayed by the
footage.)
The report also goes on to say:
The setting of the video is already suspicious, Lamb says. With a
cub that small and vulnerable, it’s very unlikely that a mother bear
would opt to traverse such a steep and slippery slope. “There’s no
reason a female would normally accept that risk, unless they were
forced into it,” Lamb says. Throughout the video, he notes, the
mother is constantly looking up at the drone and clearly bothered
by its presence. At some point, the footage zooms in, probably
because the drone itself was swooping closer. That, Lamb says,
explains why the mother unexpectedly swats at the cub, causing it
to fall. She probably read the drone’s approach as a kind of attack
and was trying to push her cub away..... [Cont'd] ...
