Last week I ordered a freezer which was to be delivered by DPD. Got a text from DPD on Monday saying it would be delivered Wednesday. It arrived a day early on Tuesday. Can I claim compo for early delivery? :rotfl:0

at checkout I had the option of using a DPD collection point ,this suited me fine as I was staying in a holiday home for two months and she was coming here.
I checked on their site and chose the nearest to me ,there were a few in the area ,I had mails and tracking details,it was redirected ??? Then nothing more the trail dried up ,after a few days I had to start a chase of calls ,emails both to DPD and the seller.
Eventually it was uncovered that the collection point had rejected the delivery because of space , I would have expected a mail to select one of the other nearby points but no it was taken to my home 55miles away and left with a neighbour who I do not get on with,
Being a pensioner with no car ,I am now faced with trying to arrange a time suitable for my awkward neighbour and spend the best part of a day plus £24 train fare for a 110 mile round trip to collect it, If he suggests evening I could well have to arrange an overnight stay somewhere
First off why do they use collection points with such limited storage?
Why not take to the next nearest point or contact to rearrange?
While selecting a point state any limitations ?
Why did no one consider why the collection point chosen was far from the home address?
Several days later on the tracking it still does not say it has been delivered anywhere
Dire Parcel Delivery
NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!
Or you get a sense of proportion and contact the retailer to correct the issue.
Being a pensioner I expect you have faced 'challenges' in your life and are capable of such a task.0 -
If find DPD are the best round here
They tell you or the hour delivery slot and keep to it.
It's the same delivery person each time so he knows the rural area well
All the rest of the delivery companies its a case of it will be delivered "sometime" during the day.
Having that hour slot from DPD makes this so much easier.
I've no idea how they and the retailer handle things when stuff gets lost with them0 -
They're a mixed bag where I am.
One driver couldn;t find the front door of a massive tower block with the name of said building clearly above it, so decided to take a photo of the plant room door and say we weren't in....so in the end I had to download their app so I could add a photo of the secret front entrance of the biggest towerblock in my town, and in fact the ONLY one in my part of town.
Usually, they are pretty good although they never get me to sign, just handing parcels over and signing themselves.0 -
I generally think dpd have gone downhill over the years.
dpd seems to be suffering from being overstretched, all there drivers i've had seems to be working behind schedule and there are never the same person.
I know dpd were trying to hire new drivers as i saw them delivering in pairs. Think they were trying to get used to the route but not sure what has happened now i also think dpd pretty much hired anyone on a whim.
The drivers seem to be trying the best but the management side is the worst with some being the cliche bad manager0 -
DPD are generally not bad at all in my area. The worst one has been Tuffnells. I ordered 2 books in July -one shipped from UK and delivered by Tuffnells, and one shipped from Texas,
Well, guess what? The one from Texas got here three weeks before the one couriered by Tuffnells.
But on the dispatch page, they were both shipped by the vendors apparently on the same day.0 -

That looks like somethings gone really badly wrong with his delivery schedule
We've had a couple of occasions where DPD's timings have been out by hours or they've ended up having to deliver the next day, usually because of something like getting caught in an accident or roadworks that have meant that what should be a 5 minute job takes 15-30* (repeat that a few times and by job 10 he's probably out by 2 hours).
I always feel sorry for the drivers in that sort of situation, as it's not their fault they've spent ages in traffic.
Having said that, I have seen DPD's listing say they expect it to be another X hours, but they've then arrived in time because they had a bunch of deliveries in close proximity but the software had allowed more time than needed.
*My town is awful for that, as there is only one real route from one side to the other and once you're on it it can take 30+ minutes to move a couple of hundred yards and there is only one point in about half a mile where you can possibly try and get out of the queue (either giving up, or taking a much longer route).1
