As with alot of things in life theres some courier driver who aren't as good as others/ the good ones put the bad ones to shame. Not had a problem with UPS, DPD not yodel yet there are those who have had a bad experience from 1 of the firms or all.

If you were paid little per delivery, you would do the same.

Most people don't understand how little they get. One place I worked for, the courier got a set amount if he was collecting one 1 or 120 parcels from us.

Also people don't want to pay for P + P so the companies choose the cheapest possible.

The consumer only has themselves to blame. They expect amazing customer services and they moan like hell when they get a rubbish experience. Because they don't want to pay.

I keep an eye out for when I have delivery and try my best not keep them waiting. As I know how time pressed they are for such little pay.

If he is paid per delivery then three deliveries of one parcel would bring in more money than one of three parcels.

I never have problem with Royal Mail. Deliveries are next day for first class post.

E,G,Something ordered at 3pm one day delivered from Devon to the north of Scotland at 11 am next day with normal first class post. Much cheaper than a courier.

Seems I got DPD's late shift today, text me at 8:42 with a delivery slot of 2:35 - 3:35. Arrived at 2:40 on the dot.

Whilst the courier for my area is excellent, I've found the administration and fulfillment to be pretty frightful.

Have ordered on several occasions and deliveries have simply not turned up; even when premium delivery options paid for.

On one occasion, the upgraded delivery of my Macbook (return from repair company) simply did not materialise; when I contacted the Make It Right team, they told me that it had been lost in transit, and I'd have to wait 48 hours for them to try to find it.

I really didn't think it was appropriate that they didn't contact me the moment they realised my consignment was missing and wouldn't be delivered that day.

So, they're probably not the worst company in the World, but in my experience they're also very much not the best...

No if they are separate deliveries, then separate payment.
3 journeys cost more than one.

RM themselves know that not all RM deliveries arrive next day, their figures support that.
It can be cheaper than a courier, not always.
  • I was travelling from my work location in Liverpool to see my family in Aberdeen on the 14th of Feb 2019 on a Virgin train service. Someone mistakingly got off the train with my suitcase and left hers behind. It was understandable given the rush and that the 2 suitcases were both blue in colour. I managed to retrieved it from her and it got delivered to Edinburgh Waverley station instead of Aberdeen. I asked my friend in Edinburgh to pick it up and courier it back to me in Liverpool. It was picked up from her on the 19th of Feb to be delivered to me on the 21st of Feb. That was the begining of my nightmare. I had my work laptop in my suitcase and I work as a contractor. All my work documents were in that laptop. Till now DPD can't find my delivery. They have been so evasive in giving me or my friend a solid answer. I have been passed from one depot to another and customer advisor to another with no solutions. I eventually, It wasn't until I went to an online resolver forum to leave a complaint that I instantly received more than 5-6 responses to my emails which they had ignored all these while. After that, I managed to have an online chat with an advisor and was told to contact the person that sent the delivery for details. She did and was told that they cannot find my suitcase!! Really?!! After weeks!!...What happens to my work latop? I had lost days of work and money....How can a company get away with such carelessness and emotional stress on a customer?
I am NEVER using DPD again! Ever!

Unfortunately stuff goes missing in the post - it's not a new phenomenon, but it's unfortunate that it was something so valuable.
A bog-standard courier with (probably) minimal insurance isn't ideal for this situation - if it's that valuable, a same-day door to door service would have been more appropriate (City Sprint etc).

They're right in that the sender needs to contact them - the contract is with them, not you as you didn't post it.

Good luck, but I fear you're stuck.
  • A bought a childs guitar online for my granddaughter's birthday neither big or heavy ,the sort of size you would put under your arm while shopping,
at checkout I had the option of using a DPD collection point ,this suited me fine as I was staying in a holiday home for two months and she was coming here.
I checked on their site and chose the nearest to me ,there were a few in the area ,I had mails and tracking details,it was redirected ??? Then nothing more the trail dried up ,after a few days I had to start a chase of calls ,emails both to DPD and the seller.
Eventually it was uncovered that the collection point had rejected the delivery because of space , I would have expected a mail to select one of the other nearby points but no it was taken to my home 55miles away and left with a neighbour who I do not get on with,
Being a pensioner with no car ,I am now faced with trying to arrange a time suitable for my awkward neighbour and spend the best part of a day plus £24 train fare for a 110 mile round trip to collect it, If he suggests evening I could well have to arrange an overnight stay somewhere
First off why do they use collection points with such limited storage?
Why not take to the next nearest point or contact to rearrange?
While selecting a point state any limitations ?
Why did no one consider why the collection point chosen was far from the home address?
Several days later on the tracking it still does not say it has been delivered anywhere
    Dire Parcel Delivery
    NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!
