Dazzlep said:Yes I don’t understand comparison sites
i too see despite a 28% hike they still cheap
but then rare anyone ever ends up paying monthly what was quoted
before the hike no way could Outfoxthemarket of been a 1/3 cheaper than others and the others increase it seems at most 7%
are the comparison sites fit for purpose I’m wondering? If there was a National rise of 28% surely Boris would be having shoes chucked at him?Bulb say same thing about Wholesale prices increase since April"Wholesale costs are now 28% higher than they were in April when we last changed our prices"Here is Electricity monthly comparison Octopus Energy Tracker Tariff which tracks Wholesale Prices, easy to see high % increase since May which does not include September when Wholesale prices appeared to increase further0 -
Surely there’s a law or a rule against these individual massive hikes whilst pretending it’s industry wide.
I keep noticing brags they still below the capped price like it’s now an acceptable target0 -

That's how a free market works. If price rises were prohibited then the companies would have to trade at a loss so they would close down.1

We've had enough nanny-state interference to last a lifetime, we don't need any more. If people accept large price increases without looking around for a better deal that's their problem.1 -
True Dave good points to be fair.
my point is if I didn’t have a bad experience or read this forum I would assume most will firstly go to a comparison site choose the first couple of cheaper ones ( wouldn’t even be aware of the filters etc )
the go to a review site like Trustpilot and pick the one with the best reviews
ok I accept that’s not classed as due diligence but in the real world that’s probably the extent of my research ( I’d wager some just don’t even go that far)
then later discover my quote of £48 a month for example isn’t enough so up goes the DD then discover in some cases of a 70/30 split or a 28% increase on a estimated reading (despite supplying a meter reading) that means my exit is blocked as technically i am in arrears
i then leave a negative feedback alert on trustpilot to receive a mail saying review has been removed and satisfy trustpilot the review is truthful and I’m a real customer to be told tough your unable to leave negative reviews ( despite the 1 star clearly bieng there) lol
i myself cannot understand how that behaviour is legal
there obviously is ombudsman who only act once there’s a lot of demand and precedence,
it’s a great way to it seems make a Bob or three.
don’t bother advertising a PS5 on FB taking money on a promise etc ( friends n family or bank transfer only) then having the authority to be able to remove anything negative spoken about me etc
normaly I would be anti laws (after all they carry a cost we all shoulder) so unsure despite great points I agree with your outcome mate0 -

The problem is the price cap is done based on costs 6 months prior - meaning it hasn't yet taken into account the massive wholesale and fixed cost rises. Expect to see the next price cap a lot higher than it is now.
In terms of a price increase after you joined onto a variable - as long as they are giving you sufficient notice (most suppliers give a 30 day notice) - they're well within their rights to change your tariff. 30 days is more than enough time for you to switch away to another supplier.
If you're so heavily against the idea that your tariff might change... don't opt for a variable tariff.
Outfox are way too comfortable of removing/silencing their critics. This is the same company that a few years ago tried to sue customers who got messed over by direct debit increases.3 -
Not a whisper from Clif claiming that the wonderful OTFM is always cheaper ! I think we can all guess why.0

it was me they started legal proceedings against for £10,000 for (and you gotta smile) for hurt feelings
They bully and as Ombudsman said spin things.
In the legal action they elevated there letting agent to senior legal rep set up nice letterheads etc and sent cease and desist with gagging clauses.
more shocking on Facebook Outfoxthemarket discussion group they met wined n dined a respectable serving police officer who was Admin of the page who at 2AM removed other admin and closed the page after recieving a financial offer that was voted down by rest of the admin to close and delete the page.
kid you not a respected serving policeman who’s head was turned by a nice meal at a posh hotel meeting lol

However much I don't want to bump this thread... I have noticed something which is interesting.
Outfox the Market have just released the first Dual Fuel 6 month and 9 month fixed contracts. (As far as I'm aware this hasn't' been done before, or at least in the last 5 years).
I'm interested to see what people's thoughts of this are.

The 6 month one is interesting in that it covers you for the dearest 6 months of the year - so an interesting concept.
From a numbers standpoint, for my own usage, there is hardly any difference in the 6 month, 9 month, or Fixed 20 16.0 rates.
Quite happy to have locked in a great rate for a year back in April to cover me through the next 6 months.
