Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

i am in the middle of trying to get some charges back from MBNA - they have offered me a settlement I have refused, this is going ok,
HOWEVER i paid £20 to get copies of statements from two cards both managed by style financial services - these were store cards and i dont have loads of charges but enough to bother claiming, £100 on one and a bit more on the other.
Recieved a letter back saying that as a store card they were exempt - credit cards were charging unfairly but they are not - but they were charging a lot too!! does anyone know if this is true - if it is then how come? how is it unfair for banks and credit cards to overcharge but not a store card?? surely they should all be governed by the same rules???
any advise would be greatly appreiciated!!
thanks0 -
Hi Just rang Card services to see if they had received my letter to claim back cc charges and the woman said they had got it and there was a letter in post offering me just over £500, my original claim was for £1330 can i accept this as a partial offer?
or would i be better writing and asking for the full amount my charges where pre 2006 and even thou some might think its £500 i wouldnt have had what are my chances off getting it all refunded.
BTW im not being greedy just wondered what my chances would be.
Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.:EasterBunIf "poli" means many, and "tics" means bloodsucking creatures what does "politics" mean?:rolleyes:0 -

I am currently in the process of claiming my Capital One charges via the courts. However i have today received a letter from my local court saying that Cap1 are going to defend all of the claim.
Will i actually end up going to court or is this the normal proceedure for Cap1???
Im a tad worried now, i thought after reading other posts on here that they would crumble at the first sign of court action and pay up in full but i now fear i will lose completely. I hope i have not ruined my chance of getting anything back.0 -

Reading previous post Cap 1 have refunded others! without going to court so it would be interesting to see what their defence is.
You never know they might still back down yet.
Good Luck0 -
Hi, please can you advise me on the following.
Last year I paid off credit cards in full and closed the accounts.
Can I claim back the charges 5 years (reside in Scotland) from the date the accounts were closed or is it from the date now when I apply for the refunds?
Thanks in anticipation.0 -

I initiated a claim with capital one to the courts, and they defended. I got a letter about 10 days later saying they would pay up "to avoid wasting the courts time". Dont panic, they'll settle soon :T0 -

You can claim back from today, not from the date you closed the account0 -

You can claim for charges applied to the account up to five years back from the date you first request them to be refunded, you can also apply interest on each charge from the date of the charges, to the date you request them back.
you can find the interest calculator on the credit card reclaiming page on the main site along with all the other info you will need.0
