Hope someone can help. My OH had C/C with Barclaycard few years back (we believe it's within 6yrs), paid it off and closed the account. The problem is we can't find any old bills so we don't have the acc number. Can we still request list of charges and how? Many thanks.

I asked for some of mine, like your OH, without having the a/c numbers.

I just put down the relevant address, full name and d.o.b - they should be able to find it from that info.
Having said that, I sent them off with £10 payments on the 6th of Sept, and not heard anything yet!!!

  • Received letter today advising not paying any charges re transparent and fair blah blah, not even good will gesture, dont understand why pay some people and not others:confused:

Why do they pay out all charges including £12 fees sometimes straight away to some and then say not paying to others, they are contradicting themselves by saying charges are fair:confused:

Will send court threatning letter today:mad:

    Will keep you updated
  • Hi, my credit card has been taken over its limit by interest charges despite me paying the prescribed minimum payment, I have been charged £12.
Is the credit card company obliged to suggest a minimum payment that will ensure I do not go over my limit and therefore avoid charges? Or is this fair play and I should have been on the ball and calculated that this would happen? Can I claim the charge back and how would I do that please?

    Well no surprise
    got letter from Goldfish today
the offer is the difference between the old charges and the new charges = 160.00
they say its their only offer I just have to send the acceptance letter back and they will send a cheque for 160.00
If I disagree they will send their final response letter stating I will have to deal with it through FOS
knew it wasnt going to be easy - so its another letter to Goldfish along with all the empty envelopes received in my SAR.
    What do you think?
Hi Laini, I would send another letter, although, it all depends how much you want to fight and what Goldfish are like!!! I sent second letter to Barclays/Barclaycard and Cap One and they all refunded money back + interest - although GE money are sticking their heals in and even going to FLA they will refund me the difference between charges and £12 - I'm not sure what to do at the moment and because I dont have any of the statements - they just sent me a list as the copies according to them are bad copies, but my argument back to them is that, if I wasnt charged the £20 or so, then I wouldnt of been out of pocket and this compounded my debt to them and our financial hardship - if you know what mean!!!! :o

  • hiya, I was wondering if anyone could advise me what to do next.....................

I claimed my charges back off Barclaycard and after paying the amount outstanding on the credit card, I'm left with £112 in credit on the card (which has been closed for the past 3 years so I cannot use it)

I have written to Barclaycard asking for a cheque for the £112 TWICE and they've still not replied! I've also asked them to inform Experian that the account is now settled so that it's not in the red anymore and they haven't done that either!!! They replied straight away when I made my claim, it took less then a month to get my charges back, so I can't understand why they're not replying now?!?

In my last letter I threatened court action if they didn't comply, but I don't wanna do this coz I can't afford the court costs, can anyone please tell me what I should do next??

    ---

ask if they can transfer the credit to your current account - they will - i checked. i was worried because my credit report says that old data will stay on the report for 6 years following the date the card was settled. by putting the credit on my account i was worried that they had reactivated the account and the old missed payments would remain on my credit report for a further 6 years! but apparently not. the account is still closed but is now in credit and they'll transfer the money so no need to wait for a cheque.

    p.s i'm on stage 2

got the statements after about 2 weeks.
15th Sept wrote to barclays asking for the money
23rd Sept received under a third of my request in credit
24th Sept wrote requesting the rest!

will let everyone know how i get on

I would phone them up - i had the same situation as you, I owed them money approx £600 ish, they paid me back £800 in charges, they credited my account so it was clear and I phoned them about the rest which was sitting on my Barclaycard account, they transferred the money via my bank which I had to give them details for, I have also written to them asking that they amend my experian etc reports, although I havent checked yet as some times this can take a while for these to be corrected - so my advice is get on the phone to them and demand payment into you bank -good luck

  • thanks catinthehat1. my post was a reply to the earlier post but i did it all in italics so it isn't very clear. i don't know if they can wipe the past defaults from your credit report... surely a default is a default, charge or no charge? or are you asking them to wipe off the defaults caused by the excess charges in the first place?

imps - go to the homepage and click on 'reclaim 1000s' - there are instructions and letters you can use. i didn't have my barclaycard account number but so long as you know where you were living when you had the card, if you call them they will be able to find your details. i'm not sure about the debt company aspect though.

    Hi CITH1
I have sent another letter to Goldfish so lets hope they refund the lot.
I have looked into going the court route which says you can be exempt from court fees if you are on incomebased job seekers allowance which i think I am at the moment since july2008.
does anyone know what the difference is between income based job seekers allowance and job seekers allowance?
Still waiting for Barclaycard to get back to me about charges and PPI too.
still fighting for my money !!!
