Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

I just had to tell some one, Halifax has offered us 8200 for our charges, this does not include the intrest but what a result, they said if the courts rule for repayments then we can still claim the intrest,
We wrote an honest letter stating that we have a shed load of debt and well we are buzzing,
I still have cap 1 card ongoing, not got repy as yet but it is looking good eh, :T0 -
Further to my earlier post, I have just this morning received a letter from the Halifax offering me my full claim of £428.05 (this is my charges including the £12 and interest). All it took was two letters, a bit of waiting ( not quite five weeks!) and a two phone calls to speed it along. Don't be fobbed off!0

well done lily
sent my case with Cap1 to FOS last week just waiting to hear back from them now0 -
Great news themissus, that is some result! :T
Thanks cot1198, hopefully you'll hear from them soon. All in all, my claim was 5 weeks, not long to wait in the grand scheme of things! Good luck!0 -
I have been charged overlimit fees by Natwest Visa ( on 4-5 occasions ) in the past year or so, so it was in the amount of £12 every time. Is it still worth it making a claim since most banks offer the difference between the previous charge and the £12 as a settlement?
Thanks
I've just managed to get the full charges I claimed for my Halifax credit card. Most banks start by offering the difference of figure which many people accept. If you decide to push that bit further, other posts have shown that you can get the £12 charges back.
If you do give it a go, don't let them fob you off with the first letter that their charges are fair etc, however understand that it is possible that they may make a note saying that you are a "difficult customer" so keep within your limits ensuring that you don't get any further charges as if you are successful, they are unlikely to agree to pay out any further charges and may decrease your limit.
I'm not meaning to put you off, but as you have said above, you have had 4-5 overlimit charges this year alone and I'm just hoping that this is just one step of many to getting your finances in order (like I and many others here have done!). Having filled out the budget planner, the reality having it all in front of me at once made me realise that things had to change!).
Remember that any money you are offered, will go toward paying your bill off (which is a good thing!!).
Good luck!0 -
I agree with lily
I am claiming just over £900 from cap1 all they offered me was £240, and this is on a closed account. I f they thought they where in the right they would not offer you anything. They just try it on and hope you go for a low offer.0 -
Hi,
I tried to reclaim Credit Card Charges from First Direct but they keep ignoring me. I have a Bank Charges reclaim sitting with the Small Claims Court, but they still refuse to pay up on the Credit Card Charges.
I know the Ombudsman takes forever (my mortage query has been with them for around 6 months now), but the Small Claims is so expensive. I've written to First Direct explaining the OFT decision on Credit Card Charges, but they still ignore me.
Can anyone advise the best course of action to take now please? Does anyone have experience of reclaiming Credit Card Charges from First Direct?
Thanks.0 -
Hi
Can someone please post the link where I can find the address fro Lloyds TSB Credit Card reclaiming?
Thanks0 -
I HAVE TODAY RECEIVED A LETTER FROM BLACK HORSE WHO I GOT AN MFI STORE CARD THROUGH ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME £36 FOR LATE/UNPAID MONTHLY PAYMENT. OVER LAST COUPLE OF YEARS I HAVE HAD A FEW CHARGES FOR LATE PAYMENT OF EITHER £24 OR £36 I THOUGHT THAT CHARGES NOW SHOULD ONLY BE FOR £12
SHOULD I CONTACT FOS TO CONFIRM THIS OR JUST SEND LETTER TO LTSB TO RECLAIM ALL CHARGES OR TO CALL THEM DIRECT AND ASK WHY CHARGES SO HIGH.
ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL THANKYOU0 -
Hi

Thanks
Hi Bebsie, if you go to http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=400981 it has loads of info on claiming, including the links to the Lloyds threads so just scroll over half way down and you'll find the address you need, plus loads of other helpful info!
There are two different addresses listed for Lloyds, depending on whether you want the data protection one for the statements or if you are sending the first claim letter to the registered office with a list of charges. I'm sure either are fine as they will forward it on to the relevant department (send it recorded - even though Royal Mail have lost one of mine already, I at least knew they never received it!)
