  • Right basically i have tried to claim back my unfair charges from Mbna and it should've been 412.00 have had a reply today with the offer of 92.00 to reduce all my fees to the reduced level of 12.00.

Do i except this or if not what should i say or do next to get the rest back?? Could really do with the other money...as it is mne afterall!!

    Thank in advance Joe

Can anyone help with what to write in next letter ? Thanks x
  • I believe any charges over £12 can be claimed but still unsure. Have looked at charges on statements and there are e.g. late payment charge, interest charge, over limit fee, premium fee (style financial card). Should I claim everything over £12.

Hi, I had the same problem so I sent another letter to them along with a copy of the orriginal one I sent and highlighted the date they cashed the cheque. I received the statements the next week!
    Cheers

Excellent! I will send them another letter tomorrow! Thanks :T

Hi everyone. I've got an interesting one here. I have made a claim with Barclaycard for charges relating to an account i closed back in 2005. On Saturday I received a letter from them offering £174 + 8% interest (amount claimed £450 + interest). On the same day i also received a statement for this account showing i was in credit for £187. Now to my mind that suggests a) that they've refunded me an amount i hadn't even agreed to, and b) that they've re-opened an account I closed 3 years ago without my consent. Surely this is misconduct on their part, but can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.

    Hi petrimov

I am fairly new to this site but I think I may be able to help you! :)

    a) You could write to them again using the stage 4 letter template on here to say that you want to go ahead and claim the full amount requested and that you wil accept the £187 'without prejudice'.

    b) You can write or call Barclaycard and arrange for them to send you a cheque or pay the amount straight into your bank if you explain the account has been closed and has not been active since 2005.

Like I said I am new to this but I'm sure I have read similar in other people's posts - have a look through for more info.

Good luck getting the full amount requested - I'm still waiting to hear form Barclaycard for my list of charges - I sent them a letter middle of may and a cheque which they cashed 2 weeks ago and still no response!

If someone else could clarify that would be great! :T

    Thanks AquariausAngel,

It's more their re-opening of my closed account that concerns me. I have decided to continue with the process, sending them letter, adding to it my views on them re-opening the account without my consent. So we'll what happens then!

Re your request for statements: it took ages for me to get mine too. A number of weeks after they'd cashed the cheque, so don't worry too much yet. You'll get them in the end, I'm sure!
  • Sorry if any one has already put this on here, but I just received a phone call from a company offering to claim my bank charges back. I said " No thanks I'll do it myself." They replied " It's just gone to court and it's realy hard to get your money back now, we can still do it for you.":rotfl: I still refused.

    Hi All :p

I wrote to Egg to claim £124.86 (incl interest). They wrote back saying No deal, charges are fair etc. So I wrote to them again and they have now written to me offering £124.86 but only if paid to my credit card. I defaulted on the card a while ago and am still paying off the o/s balance. I had requested any monies owed be sent via cheque or bacs. Do I have to have it credited to my credit card?

Can anyone help with my query?

    :p
