    Hi

This has probably been asked a million times. But Barclays has just made me an offer, however I want to try for the full amount. I know I have to mention without prejudice when I write to them, however is there a template letter for this anywhere?

    Thanks

    Hi rushdoo,

I used the second template letter and just edited it at the without prejudice part, saying:-

The charges i have claimed above total £*****. However i am prepared to accept your offer of £**** plus 8% interest as a part payment towards the amount I am claiming and I therefore ask that you pay me the remainder of the balance.

I look forwad to a full response to this letter within 14 days, otherwise I will commence court proceedings to reclaim my money.

Now i only sent this letter on 5th June and havent yet received a response from them but they tend to answer in about 10 days.

Hope this has been of some help to you

After totalling up my Barclaycard fees for the last six years i sent them the letter claiming it all back.

Total amount claimed was £493 inc interest.

Checked my card statement just now and for some reason they have paid me
£144 in late payment fees and £11.52 in interest...credited to my account.

Not sure how they came about these figures but hopeflly something in the post soon ?

    just a quick update darren.

After sending second letter to barclaycard they refunded me some more. worked out about £150 less than I asked for but got majority. original claim was for over a thousand
  • After Barclaycard credited my account with a part payment it appears they have reduced my credit limit to half of what it was.

Queried this via there website and got a standard response..Account activity, previous conduct..credit elsewhere blah blah blah.

So appears they are being a bit vindictive...

Gonna bash another letter out today claiming the full whack..

  Last year i successfully reclaimed over £1200 back from MBNA and Capital One in charges, i have recently noticed that MBNA are still charging me £12 in late fees even though they take through Direct Debit every month. Does anyone know if i can claim these back aswell? I need this sorting as it is affecting my credit rating.
Many thanks for any replies i receive.

I wrote to Barclaycard to reclaim £450.30 charges including interest.

They have written back offering only the difference between charges that I have incurred with the current £12 fee, amounting to £136.00 plus 8 per cent interest.
They have said it will be credited to my next statement.

I want to try for the full amount though. What is the next step I should take? Is there a template letter for this? They say I am eligible to take it to the Financial Ombudsman, is this the right time to do so.

    Many thanks

  • I phoned Capital One and asked for my statements, which they didn't question the reason why I wanted them. These came within a week of my request, and I sent off a letter requesting a refund of charges the same day. I gave them 14 days to respond, and exactly 14 days later an offer came back to me. OK - I was only asking for £70 in charges and they offered me £32 which I accepted. If I was asking for more I'd probably have stuck it out but considering I've found Capital One to be a nightmare in the past, I was pretty happy with this.

    Hey everyone,
I made a claim against Barclaycard and Cap One in summer last year. The amount I claimed was roughley £800 from each and within a few weeks I got a part payment from both of them. I sent them letters saying I would accept this as part payment but would persue the rest.

Fast forward a tough year (moving about/ not much cash to spare to take it to MCOL) I never got round to claiming the rest of the money.

They still technically owe me £500-£600 each and wanted to know if there is anything I can do? I never said I accepted the totals as full payment- just a part payment .

HELP!! (Could really do with that money now!!)

    Thanks

    Hiya,

I've done excactly the same with them and got the same reply, I claimed £1312 including interest, they've sent me a letter offering £372 and that it'll be updated on my next statement, so I used the template letter for quick settlement (you'll find this on the how to claim your credit card charges page) saying I will be happy to accept £1200 and if they don't then I'll take them to court, I've given them 14 days, I only sent the letter on friday so we'll see, obviously I edited a few bits to make the letter suit, but you could do the same.

I know I've only bought it down by £100 but if I owed them money they'd want every penny so sod 'em, I'm gonna try my best to get as much as I can back, coz at the end of the day, it's my money!

    hope this helps, good luck!
