    Hiya

I don't know if it's standard practice but I have read on here that others have experienced the same problem, when I didn't receive mine within 40 days (from the date I sent the letter) I went to my local bank and they sorted for me, maybe you could do the same?

Good luck, hope you hear something soon!
A MASSIVE Thanks to all you fantastic people who post the comps and answers:beer: :T

I have finally gotten around to contacting my credit card company for credit card statements for last five years and they have charged me £40 for this - I thought maximum was £10?

    Any advice!!
£10 is the max they can charge for an individual account , they can not charge you £40 unless you have 4 different accounts and wish to gain the information from each of these. I would complain about this. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me, however I believe they are trying their luck.

  • I have been trying to reclaim my credit card charges from HSBC for sometime now. I recently received a letter to say that they are not willing to pay out. What can I do?

  • Hi

Just wondering if anyone has had any success / failures / response from Abbey credit card recently? I sent them the letter template on 16th May requesting a full list of all late payment / over limit charges to date and haven't had a response yet. I believe their 'deadline' date is this sat 21st June. Shall I write to them on Monday - the same letter with 2ND REQUEST at the top - if I haven't heard off them by the weekend?

I sent off template letters to Barclaycard and MINT the same day - MINT sent me the list (without me paying the £10 fee :rotfl: !!) within a couple of days and I am waiting to hear a response to my letter requesting for the money back. Barclaycard sent me a letter asking for the £10 fee which they cashed this week so just waiting on the list of charges from them.

I went online earlier to check my Barclaycard balance and I am really fed up of being hit with over limit fees ever since THEY reduced my credit limit by £500 a few months ago  grr!! If they had left the limit alone there wouldn't be a problem as I pay off the minimum each month, sometimes more if I can afford to. I e-mailed them through the online system asking for them to up my credit limit as I don't think it is fair - I have to wait up to 3 days for a response. Has anyone else had any similar problems with Barclaycard? They make enough money out of us it's disgusting they can just reduce your credit limit knowing that with interest and only paying off the minimum I will be going over my REDUCED limit so they can add on £12 over limit fee!!!

    ANYWAY RANT OVER!!!

    Thanks for your help! :)
Barclaycard PPI £274.84: Currently with FOS
Barclaycard Fees £226.87: Still being hit with overlimit fees due to BC lowering limit
    MINT £101.61: Accepted offer for £95.05! 17/08/08 :T

Following my recent post on page 35 I have now had a "Final Response" letter from LTSB about my credit card charges. I claimed £482.63 (£400 for 20 x £20 charges) plus £82.62 interest
The letter is offering me £285.68 which LTSB claims is a refund of the charges plus interest - How they have got that figure I have no idea - Do they make it up?
I intend to write back accepting £285.68 without prejudice and ask for the £196.94 they are selling me short!

They also state that if you have an account with them the credit will be deducted off the balance but I paid this card off in 2006 and closed the account so they should send me a cheque shouldn't they?

    Is this right?

I wrote to Barclaycard to reclaim £450.30 charges including interest.

They have written back offering only the difference between charges that I have incurred with the current £12 fee, amounting to £136.00 plus 8 per cent interest.
They have said it will be credited to my next statement.

I want to try for the full amount though. What is the next step I should take? Is there a template letter for this? They say I am eligible to take it to the Financial Ombudsman, is this the right time to do so.

    Many thanks

    just to update as promised:

29/5/08 sent letter to Barclaycard asking for my charges back, £1312 in total inc interest

    9/06/08 Barclaycard offered £372!

13/06/08 Sent letter to Barclaycard saying I accept £372 as part payment without prejudice and I was willing to accept £1200 as a final offer.

20/06/08 Final Offer off Barclaycard offering me £1036

I still have £940.00 outstanding on my account so I think I'm gonna accept that offer coz then my debt will be almost £1000 less and I'll have £95.00 towards another debt! :j

I am sooooooooooo happy, 2 letters is all it took to reduce my debts by almost £1000 in less then a month!!!! :rotfl:

Please claim your money back, be patient and you could be so much better off and as happy as me!!!:T

I would llike to thank Martin and everyone on here for all the encouragement and good advice, Thank you so much xx :money:  :T :j

  • Just a note to say, that my job is working for a large international in a department specially created to deal with customers recaliming back charges.

Its a very simple thing to do and i would advice anyone to check what charges they have incured as many people are unawares that they could have hundreds of pounds coming back to them- also i would advice you if regarding large sums of money never accept the first offer and always mention wanting to also reclaim the 8% intrest on the charges

Hope that info helps, if anyone wanst any advice or info just get in touch i will be happy to help!

Jayne thanks for that info, and yes I do have a question = what is the situation with £12 charges - should we push for them too

    Thanks

I think that many of us would agree that even at £12 that fee is excessive, but, the OFT appear to believe that this is a compromise charge. Worth looking further into, a charge of £4-£5 would be fairer in my opinion.

I might have broached this subject previously, I don't recollect seeing any comments on the forum. When we get charged the late payment fee, we also get it recorded on our credit files, don't you think that we are being punished twice for the same offence ?
