Help with Statements!
Hi I sent off £10 to my credit card povider for my statements however when I recieved my statements they only had the transactions for 2002-2003.
Please tell me if this is normal as I have been using my card reguarly since I have had it which was about 8 years ago.
Thank you for looking.0 -
I am so annoyed with natwest!! I wrote to them claiming £733.85, they then deposited £128 into my account without informing me first, so i wrote the second letter saying i would like the full amount and would like a response withing 14 days which was today. I checked my account and they have put another £18. But this is still no where near the amount i am claiming. I tempted to write one more letter before going to the ombudsman. Does anyone diagree with this, any advice is gratefully received :-)0

After just one letter and 5 days, Halifax have offered to re-pay my £144 credit card charges as claimed. However, they're insisting that they credit my account rather than sending me a cheque. I wouldn't normally have an issue with it, 'cept that my account has been inactive for the best part of 5 years and the outstanding debt on it was sold on to a collections company. I'm still paying it off, hence why Halifax are insisting the £144 has to go towards reducing the balance.
Do I have to accept this as the solution or can I continue to pursue the refund as a cheque to me?Successes so far::j
Halifax Credit Card Charges £144, Barclaycard Credit Card Charges £264, Welcome Finance PPI £675.80, MBNA Credit Card Charges £218, Capital One PPI £480 -
unfortunately alison if there is an outstanding blance they are well within their rights to do this. You are still better off though as it at least contributes to paying off your debt and its £144 you dont have to find to do it.0

I sent the first letter about 2 weeks ago now and i rang the halifax customer service department a few days ago now to ask to see whether my letter had been received. They advised that nothing was on the system to say that my letter had been received. Hovever, due to banks going to court etc, they may not action my request???? Is this right? Could someone update me with the present position of the bank charges?

I am no expert but I think there is currently a hold on bank charges - judgement given but waiting for appeal (I think)
However this does not apply to credit card charges - you can still go right ahead and claim them
Good Luck

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

The sample letter doesnt really deal with the £12 issue - are you using another template to contact them again - I am PETRIFIED of going to court - which I have just realised is a bit stupid since I attend Youth Court (as part of my job) almost weekly!!
Must agree with Mint being the quickest - also contacted MBNA, Barclaycard, First Direct and Sky (OH had loooooooooottttttt of CC and was so bad at paying on time!!!) Two have cashed cheques but no statement yet. Personally I want MBNA the most - they have been terrible to deal with before balance was cleared and this month sent a statement for 9p?????????????????
RMC
Stick with it!!
I've managed to get all my money back from MBNA on 3 different cards. They'll fob you off first........then send the threatening court action letter.............then they'll offer you a part payment............you accept ''without prejudice (think spelling is wrong!) the amount they have offered but you want the lot or you'll go to court. Easy as that!
I've now got back about £3500 from them since February.
Now waiting on Cahoot, Nationwide and Beneficial.
Good luck0 -
Halifax credit card claim. While with payplan.
1 = Requested charges, prompt reply with fees listed.
2 = Claimed £75 (+£23.35 interest) Total = £98.35
3 = Reply with gesture of goodwill offer for £39, and acceptence form attached for me to sign for the £39 to be applied to my card.
Ok heres my question....
The debt was with a debt company who was being paid by myself via payplan.
I' ve since paid of the debt in FULL for a reduced sum with the debt company, and removed it from payplan.
Should i pursue the full £98.35 and can i get them to send me a cheque for the cash or if they do pay it into the account can i withdraw the cash?
Thanks in advance guys.0 -
I've been searching the fora, and haven't found any reference to my own conundrum - if this has been asked before, I apologise.
Basically, my girlfriend is currently claiming back charges and fees from several credit card companies, one of whom is Barclaycard. The total charges she is claiming are £340, plus interest at 8%, which I calculated as £118.18 (using the calculator on the website), for a total of of £458.18.
She was initially offered £146.88, which was what Barclaycard calculated as the difference between what she was originally charged and £12, which they 'consider fair', plus 8% interest as a gesture of goodwill. She turned this down, and asked again for the full amount.
Barclaycard have just come back to her with an increased offer of £367.20 - the total of all the charges (£340), PLUS interest at 8% (£27.20).
My question is thus: how is the 8% interest calculated - I know that the interest cannot be compounded, but I was under the impression that we can claim interest at 8% APR, as that is what the courts would award, were we to take it that far. The interest calculator on the MSE website also seems to go with the 8%APR. However, Barclaycard have 'calculated' that 8% of £340 is £27.20 (which technically it is, but this does not take into account the length of time that they have had my girlfriend's money), which is what they have offered.
So. which version of the 8% is the correct one to use - can we claim 8% APR (not compounded, obviously), or is it just a straight one-off amount of 8% of the actual charges?0 -
I've been trying to reclaim credit card charges since Feb 08 for about 15 cards i've had over the past 6 years, I've never had so much post on a weekly basis and have been quiet successfull so far. But this last 4 weeks, i've had nothing. Its gone very quiet and the banks seem to be getting really slow at responding! anyone else experiencing this also?0
