Quick question - Template letter 2, where your asking for the refund and give the card issuer 14 days to reply...............is this 14 days or 14 workings days? i sent a hand full of refund request letters out on the 18th March and NO ONE has replied? Not sure what to do? if its 14 days i should go ahead with step 3, if its 14 workings days, i should wait as easter bank holiday has fell in between......thoughts welcome please

This isn't expert advice but just my opinion. I'm in the same boat as you. I sent my letter on the 18th March so the 14th day would be today. But i think it would be a little hasty to start the court stuff straight away plus its been easter weekend in between. I'm going to give them till saturday and if i haven't had a response by then i'm going to get cracking with doing the mcol. Good luck with your claim!

I previously had a Halifax Credit Card - the debt of which was sold on. I did repay the full amount without any discounts. I have now requested old statements from Halifax - and today they have eventually arrived.

On glancing through the statements there are a lot fewer Late Payment and Over the Limit fees than what I anticipated (but never mind). However there are some other additions on the account and was wondering if anyone can clarify what they are and can I reclaim them?

Coverplan: This has been charged at a fixed rate of £47.40/month for 10 months. Is this the same as PPI?

Credit Card Repayment Insurance "Including Insurance Premium Tax" - this I have never heard of before and has been added on each month and the amount ranges from approx. £22 - £25. Is this PPI? I don't understand why I seem to have two insurance type products being added to the account.

I am stumped when looking at these statements and cannot believe that I never before noticed that about £72/month was being added to my statement - no wonder I got in over my head. Can either of these amounts be reclaimed?

Any advice on the above would be greatly appreciated as I am skirting on the edge of the 6 year time limit here so would like to action this Credit Card asap.

    Thanks in advance, DB

I am on a repayments arrangement with my lender, HBOS/BOS. I managed to also reclaim charges on these cards (which are no longer in use), but now HBOS have started to re-apply late fees and interest again!! So I'm in danger of going back to square one with these people. It's defeating the whole purpose of the arrangement and I am seriously thinking about defaulting on all the accounts. I can't go on being treated like this!

    Any advice?

    *********UPDATE*************

Just spoken to them. They have advised(!!) to reduce payments to a nominal sum. That way, the account will be passed to a CA quicker. I barely understand the logic behind it, but I welcome this move and am applying changes today.

If anyone smells anything untoward in the advice given, can they pl post here?

I doubt it. Not for late fees.

  • hI,
Can anyone give me advice. I have been offered £65.00 worth of credit card charges but the bank are refusing to pay me it back via a cheque as requested by myself, instead they say it is their company policy to credit my credit card as I still have a balance on it.

Please can anyone tell me if this is true and is there a law to say they can do this.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi I am new to reclaiming, if I reclaim against current credit cards what chance is there of them closing the credit card accounts, I have cards with hsbc and halifax.

    cheers
  • i HAVE HAD A REPLY FROM THE HALIFAX OFFERING ME AN AMOUNT FOR MY CREDIT CARD CHARGES THAT I AM HAPPY WITH. THE CATCH IS THEY WANT TO REFUND ME VIA MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT AS I STILL HAVE A BALANCE DUE ON THE ACCOUNT. CAN THEY DO THIS? AS I WOULD RATHER HAVE A CHEQUE SENT TO ME INSTEAD.

    CAN ANYONE HELP?
