Hi, I am trying to reclaim some credit card charges but do not have all of my old statements. Today I called my bank to see if I could get my old statements and was told that it would cost £5 for the last three statements and then £5 per statement for any older statements. To me this seems a bit extortionate as to get the past three years worth would be £180. Is this allowed or are the bank breaking any rules by charging this. The past six years of current account statements has only cost me £10 for all. Please can anyone advise?

re-read over martin's page on credit card charge reclaiming. I thought that they couldnt charge you anything over £10, and that would be for the last SIX YEARS statements. cheeky bank! they try anything to bleed people dry of money. like they havent extorted us enough as it is.

well, ive just had a letter from monument saying that they will only credit £175 to my account and i have to write to them to confirm that i want them to do this. considering my original request was for approx £500, they can kiss it. going to send another letter now....i just know they will drag this out.

has anyone else had dealings with monument?

If you ask for statements then they will charge you for them as they are quite entitled to do. Send off the 1st template letter in Martin's article where you are asking for all information held on you under the DPA.

greetins all. can somebody tell me how do i chase up creditcard statements, if the card company Littlewoods, sold my debt to cabot debt recovery. i am lost has to go about this, and would appreciate some advice. before going through martins procedures. thanks in advance.

You should start your claim to Littlewoods although as there is a debt on the account if your claim is successful then any monies received will go towards the debt no matter who holds it now.

I recently applied to Capital One for charges to be credited. The total amount including interest was £1105.75. I received a letter today and they have offered to pay the difference between its now £12 charge and the amount I was charged which totals £208. Should I accept. If not what do I do next ??

    Hi,

Does anybody know if i can claim for charges against my personal loan for late payments?

If i can is it covered by the pending court bank charges case, or can i treat it the same as a credit card claim?

    need some advice
sent a letter to Capital One
    This is what I put
"without prejudice I am prepared to accept this lower figure of £*** in full and final settlement of my claim and interest for default charges applied to my account"
think I shot myself in the foot
Can Capital One now use this against me and not pay the full charges which are considerely more then they offered:confused:

write another letter. if you want that offer now put in your letter .eg
"I am writing to inform you that I accept the money you have offered in to my account as part payment Without Prejudice, but that I intend to proceed with my claim for the full amount ." and threaten court action.
Even if you don't want to go down that route you can always then complain to the FOS . it does take time .but they are unfair charges and you want them back

i was just wondering,,,,how come if the credit card companies are all offering the 'difference' between the £12 and for e.g. a £25 charge that they have made, we are then able to refuse this, and ask for the full amount to be refunded? im not sure i understand it all. how are we entitled to the whole amount? i know its 'unlawful' and ive read all about it, but why?

  • Hi,

I wrote to Barclaycard claiming £355 charges + £130 interest.

They have paid me £355 charges but only £28 interest? which is 8% of the total being claimed rather than from the date of the charge.

I used Martins "Interest Calculator" to calculate the £130. Has anyone else had the same issue? shall i forget about the £102 interest thay have miss calculated? or try and claim this interest?
